Storyville is a fantastic museum! It’s curated well and extremely easy to follow the timeline. The love for NOLA history shines through. The artifacts were great and not easily found in other museums. Very tastefully done and respectful of the people who lived the history. Highly recommend. Very worth the price of admission.

Visitor notes
This place was AMAZING! Staff was super wonderful answering our endless questions too. Well put together and extremely informative on the history of NOLA. Learned how certin words were brought about. Lots of display items, history artifacts, games, with some displays being interactive. We spent about 3 hours there, just reading and learning. Was a fun girls day!
This Storyville Museum is far more than we expected!! Loved the old wooden gambling machines and the room setups to show what the old prostitution cribs looked like. There is a lot of period music and the posted information is very detailed. From the outside the place looks tiny….. but it is very spacious once you go in. The green odds allowed visitors to smell the aphrodisiac jasmine and the licorice scented absinthe. The period images of the opium dens are haunting with the blank faces of the users. The comparison of Victorian era clothing and flappers is brilliant!
I like going to places where I can learn the history of the area and this place did not disappoint. Not overly crowded as we went on a weekday so gave us time to read everything and go through all the exhibits. It is a smaller museum but the experience and education is so beneficial. It is off bourbon street so if you want to explore, this is definitely the spot you want to check out. Amazing historical information. Definitely took a time machine back to the past to learn more about the new Orleans area
This museum and the staff were MARVELOUS!! As a professional Historian, I appreciated the language, organization, and interactive elements of the exhibits. The exhibits themselves, I believe, reflected the complexity of Louisiana broadly, it's people and cultural elements, and specifically Storyville. The historical narratives of each exhibit clearly represented major themes during the respective eras they illustrated, making the history easily accessible to first-time viewers.
We came for our anniversary and had a blast taking the 2p guided tour with Olive this afternoon! What a beautiful place that captures the essence of the soul of not only Storyville, but New Orleans as a whole! Highly recommend and we will definitely be back for more!! Great gift shop finds too!!
The Storyville Museum is an adults-only museum, and that feels appropriate given how honestly and thoughtfully it presents its subject matter. This is a place to slow down, read, and really take in the layered history of Storyville and its role in New Orleans. I especially loved the variety in storytelling. The museum goes beyond text panels with murals, artifacts, and excellent then-and-now photographs. Those comparison photos were a standout for me and really drove home how completely Storyville has disappeared from the physical city. The museum clearly explains why Storyville was shut down in 1917 and does a great job balancing uncomfortable truths with historical context. As a Texan who somehow visited Amsterdam before New Orleans, I was surprised by how familiar parts of the city felt. After visiting this museum, that comparison made much more sense. If you are interested in New Orleans history beyond the typical tourist stops, this museum is well worth your time.
The storyville museum is a fascinating place to learn about the colorful and unique past of new orleans. The exhibits are done very tastefully providing insight into an important chapter of the city's history without feeling sensationalized. We really enjoyed our walk through the museum it's informative well-curated and offer something a little different from the usual attractions. If you're looking for a museum that tells a compelling story and gives you a deeper understanding of New Orleans this is a great choice!
