Truly an amazing museum. We took a tour with Dave and it was FANTASTIC! We learned so much and had a good time doing it. After the tour we roamed the property for hours taking in all the sites/exhibits. You could easily spend a day here. The staff were so friendly and even recommended us a lovely spot to grab a bite to eat. Highly recommend!

Visitor notes
While camping in the region, we decided to tour the museum as an escape from the oppressive heat and we're glad we did. Maine's shipbuilding history is so deeply woven into the fabric of Bath, so learning more about the people, ships, and impact added to my understanding and appreciation. The main building was booming with young children visiting the vibrant Chris Van Dusen exhibit, while several of the other buildings were closed because of the extreme heat. (It is definitely worth checking out the Snow Squall: An American Clipper exhibit)
I hadn't been to the museum since I was a little kid. I must say it is even better as an adult, as I now can appreciate what Maine shipbuilding was all about. It really is amazing that only 100 years ago we built wooden warships and now you can see modern steel destroyers being built just upriver from the MMM.
Loved this place, so worth it! The short cruise (1hr) was about $45 when we attended and it was so cool! So much stuff in one place and the Woodshop was so cool to walk through
This was one of the best things we did on a Maine visit. This was an engaging and educational experience. The guides were informative and most of all conversational, my wife and I spent all day here and could really have used a bit more time. Plan to spent all day and do everything- museum, guided walking tour, boat tour, and self-guided walking tour. The boats were interesting, the boat building shop… everything - well worth the time.
Well worth the visit. The museum is expansive and offers indoor and outdoor exhibits that are informative and interactive. We did the boat tour as well which included museum tickets and was very reasonably priced as well as interesting. The staff were very friendly and informative and dispersed throughout the museum; they added so much insight! Highly recommend!!
We are museum lovers and had a great time visiting this museum. It was very kid friendly, surprisingly so for a museum not explicitly created for kids. It was also super interesting and felt worth the entry price. If we are ever back in Maine we will have to check it out again!
This place was very neat! We stopped here on out way up the coast of Maine. They offer many different boat tours of the river too. We did the lighthouse sites one and were able to see 6 lighthouses on a 2 hour tour. It was beautiful. While out on the water we got to see some bald eagles, a bald eagle nest, some seals and or course many other forms or wild life. It was well worth the cost, and it really wasn't even exspensive! It also got us free entrance into the museum too. When we return to ME, we plan to stop here again!
