The staff at PetMedic in Portland are truly amazing. While visiting my parents in Wells, my cat Lucy began to show signs of an eye infection. Dr. Koenig was so thorough in her assessment and created a plan for Lucy while answering all of my questions with genuine compassion and care. They sent us home with very detailed notes and even checked in on Lucy the next day. We frequently visit Maine throughout the year and it puts me at ease to know that should we ever need it, we can always bring our pets here for wonderful care!
We were in town from out of state with our elderly dog. She had what appeared to be an infected open wound as a result of licking a lump on her leg. We were able to book a same day appointment on a Sunday. Everyone in the place was super pleasant. The doctor quickly assessed the wound and suggested a treatment plan. We were in and out in less than a hour with prescription drugs in hand. No hard upselling or anything along those lines. Will be my first call if we’re in the same situation in the future.
My pitbull Keisha got into a large amount of compost scraps and we had to come to PMUC for 3 days straight for X-rays to make sure it was all moving through her! (and that we weren’t headed down the road to a big abdominal surgery) Each visit I was welcomed in, had minimal wait times and the doctors were really amazing at explaining what the X-rays were showing. Thank goodness they were open all weekend for me to have some peace of mind and Keisha made a full recovery!

★★★★★Recommended by our primary vet when my dog was showing concerning symptoms but they didn’t have same-day availability, Pet Medic was a really excellent option. I made an appointment online and they were ready to see me immediately when I showed up a few minutes early and every staff member was kind, knowledgeable, and patient as we navigated through a diagnosis and treatment options. They also directly worked with my pet insurance to make the claim process very easy. During a time that was very stressful for me and painful for my dog, they made everything a lot less scary. While I hope I don’t need urgent care services again, I’m glad to know where to go now.
Was able to get in to have my dogs paw looked at. Found the source of what the problem was and was able to go home with her not long after. The staff was nice and super friendly. They took care of my dog paisley with care and gave me info on what I needed to treat her paw with and prescribed it to me!
I wish this place was not only an urgent care but also offered normal veterinary services because they would be my primary Vet 1000%. Here are all the positives:
- Clean website, extremely easy to book an appointment
- Easy check-in process
- They have never been late (at least with me), we arrive, and we are in a room with a nurse within 15 minutes at most.
- The staff is extremely nice and professional. The doctors we got were great and actually made much better decisions than we've had in the past at other clinics. They took great care of my pup.
- They give you accurate price estimates
- They are super patient with my dog, and they do not guess; they test, and make sure they are giving the right, most efficient treatment.
Yes, they are more expensive than a regular vet, but it's urgent care, it's expected. I highly recommend PetMedic in Portland!
From my very first phone call to the office check-in, and throughout my interactions with the vet techs and the veterinarian, everyone was kind, compassionate, professional, and incredibly helpful. They fit my sick dog in on very short notice, and I felt supported during an otherwise scary experience. I’m grateful for the excellent care and kindness. Thank you!
Absolutely loved our experience here! They were able to see us day of! We were seen almost immediately and we were blown away with the staff! Everyone was friendly, they were knowledgeable, upfront, honest and so good with my pup! They made her feel comfortable during her time there. We will definitely be coming back! I've already recommended pet medic to my friends and family!
