Empowering for the patient, the family and the caregivers. Not only did we get the best rehabilitation in the country (maybe the entire world); they empowered us to continue care and support well beyond discharge. When we walked into Shirley Ryan I felt useless and unable and assist my wife in any way. By the time we left I felt confident I could care for her, advocate for her and assist in her final leg of recovery and return to normal life! We could NOT have done this without these amazing people!!

I never experienced such wonderful care, like I did at Shirley Ryan. The staff are so kind and provide you with a sense you can do anything. I referred alot of my neighbors to Shirley Ryan. Thank God, there somewhere a person can go and get real help!!!! Dorthy S
After having a stroke from a brain bleed, I was blessed to have received services from Shirley Ryan. I spent 43 days in inpatient, the PT were TOP NOTCH! They pushed me and challenged me. I then went to day therapy at Shirley Ryan. It was a hard adjustment for me as the program is intense but I found my rhythm but I was still challenged. Everyone knew me name. I recently graduated after 4 months of therapy and I feel like I was leaving family. They put me back together. I truly hope the therapist are compensated for what they do because they are truly restoring lives. I’m now headed to outpatient and the pain management program and I’m extremely hopeful. I know I’m in good hands and I thank the Lord for allowing all things to align for my swift recovery. Thank you Shirley Ryan.
I recently left a pretty negative review, based on frustrations over the process and length of time it took to get my son to rehab here. It was prior to his arrival, and unfair to this facility. A lot of it was beyond their control. Yesterday, I arrived to see my son at Shirley Ryan, working his PT. He loves it here with all the loving and skilled therapists. He was so proud of himself over sitting upright unassisted after months of laying in bed. I expect his recovery will be rapid and substantial. I will update this review as progress continues.
After a serious spine surgery I could not get out of the bed, walk or bath myself. Within 3 weeks the attention and assistance from staff and doctors I was able to take care of myself totally. What an amazing facility for my physical therapy experience. The best in the world.
My husband Armando is happy to be there as an inpatient for his recovery and is doing very well with his physical therapy. He's showing much improvement on his workouts each day! So very grateful to you guys. Thank you Shirley Ryan AbilityLab!
My father was denied care to the facility because of the complexity of his wounds. It appears that they don’t see benefit in helping people with complex abdominal wounds because his wound will “leak”. My dad has an open abdomen with a large ostomy bag. How are patients supposed to get better if they get denied from facilities that advertise that they “provide exceptional care” but it’s limited to who they see fit. If you have complex wounds don’t even try to get accepted here.
We are incredibly grateful for the care my brother received at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab. He was there for a little over a month, and every single nurse we encountered was kind, attentive, and truly compassionate. They treated him with dignity and patience during a very vulnerable time in his life. A special shoutout to the absolute best ,his physical therapist Puja, and occupational therapist Sam. Your dedication, encouragement, and expertise made such a meaningful difference in my brother’s recovery journey. You pushed him when he needed it, supported him when it was hard, and celebrated every bit of progress along the way. Thank you for the positive impact you had on his healing. We will always appreciate the role you played in helping him move forward.
