KOTHU SRILANKAN RESTAURANT & BAR - Tooting

It's really hard to leave bad reviews for me but this place left me feeling really mixed. No doubt the food was good, spice level was on point and the mix of flavours was great. However it took a hour and a half for the mains to come out. Sort of ruined our night tbh. Would I come here again, probably not, was the food good, yes! However the delay in food is just not good enough for me. If you are happy to wait an hour and a half to eat from the time you sit down then by all means go! Also the sign in the toilet saying "takes years to build a business but a 5 minute review can destroy it" wasn't really necessary. Good restaurants don't need to defend themselves against bad reviews because they don't have any and the few they do are not really worth worrying about. The flurry of take away drivers coming and getting food while I'm sat there for an hour and a half IN THE RESTAURANT and im competing with some dude sitting on his sofa. Added photos so you can decide. This review won't make a difference to the restaurant and they will continue on. Make better choices and life seems better. I ignored the early bad reviews and now I regret it.

We went as a group of three and had an amazing experience! We tried a wide variety of dishes including string hoppers koththu (idiyappam koththu), roti koththu, special fried rice, mango lassi, watalappam, and kiri appam. Every single dish was absolutely delicious and full of authentic Sri Lankan flavor. The customer service was outstanding friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our visit. The spice levels can be adjusted on request. Overall, this is easily one of the best Sri Lankan food restaurants in London. Highly recommended!

Firstly special thanks to Sri Ramana, the waiter. He was absolutely amazing in attending to us and all customers in the lovely restaurant. Secondly, this is my go to take away place but decided to come in. The food as always was amazing. Chicken biryani medium is my go to. My favourite is mutton soup. Thank you for a lovely and wholesome meal

Good value for the money. Didn't try their signature Kothu. But tried the egg hoppers with the coconut sambol, a must side dish with many Sri Lankan main courses. The sambol tasted stale and it wasn't authentic. The mutton rolls were crispy but little bit over fried. The service was distasteful because the servers were inattentive and took at least 20 minutes to flag a server. The atmosphere is so so.

My husband and I had a great time here. The devilled seafood and the hoppers (especially the biscoff one) were good in particular. The mutton kothu was good, but I've had better ones. The service was very speedy, and our waiter was polite & helpful.

My experience at Kothu is very good. Loshan took care of us well, very attentive and helpful. The kothu we ordered was flavorful and yummy, but the stir fry was a bit towards salty side. Overall I enjoyed my visit and will visit again.

This place is absolutely incredible. Thank you to our lovely waiter Losjan who gave us two fantastic recommendations. The layering of spices in the food was so good, everything was hot and fresh and we ordered quite a lot of food for two so appreciated the bit of time in between courses. It’s also a bonus that you can choose how spicy you want something so everyone is catered for. Honestly fantastic value for money for the quality of food you are getting. We can’t wait to get back.

Really enjoyed our dinner here! 🍽️ The food was full of flavour and the portions were great 😋. What stood out the most was the service from Anamika 🌟 — she was incredibly welcoming, attentive, and professional throughout the evening. She gave great recommendations and made us feel very comfortable. Highly recommend this place and will definitely come back again! 🙌✨
