Sacred Heart Catholic Church

La Catedral es Hermosa! This is a beautiful cathedral in downtown Tampa! We went there as tourists since were there for the Colombian elections this year, so before voting we went to mass with the entire Family. The Franciscan Friar Pastor Fr Mike did a beautiful job with his homily, but I have to say we send our prayers for him and his community of friars; they might be somewhat into the "progre"ideology; the website says: ..."they are seeking the Gospel through the Franciscan spirituality in the contest of the 21st century life" I am not so sure of what that means, but it sounds to me like the one fast spreading ideology of the church needing to be upto this word and century standards, sadly if that is the case this has nothing to do with the Franciscan spirituality! FARWAY FROM THIS 21st century kind of thought process had St Francis of Assis in his mind and spiritual life, he was crying out of mass one day and said the church on his vision of the future was packed and the friars were amused on his tears and sobbing, since for them this was great; but the the saint explained that nobody was there to ADORE and be thankful to God, they were there only to ask for things their way! This is the way of thinking on this 21st century: "I do what I want!. Me fist, second, 3rd etc the rest???".. "The church needs to change the message, the liturgy, the moral teaching, the ordained need to include woman, the Eucharist can be given in your hand!!!....Even the Canon of Law has not changed, yet! So my kids and family had a really bad impression from Fr. Mike. I hope I am wrong but we all noticed he did really was bothered giving the Holy Communion in our mouth and was not happy with my kid's tongue exposure, they felt sad because of his actitud towards us receiving in our mouths while kneeling, it's probably as well because the line doesn't move as fast but I hope they can reflect on this and be thinking they do not provide a "fast food service" we go with the mind, heart and disposition to Adore and Praise Our Lord present in His Soul, Body and Divinity and because the 21st Century mindset is faraway from this faith, knowledge and reverence it is to much for us to ask to be able to receive Him in adoration while kneeling; is as well, could be to much time for the priest to be patient and allow the laity to go and kneel in the presence of God while receiving the Eucharist devoutly in a proper manner. We live very confusing times, so it's time to study Canon of law and also to reflect on the Fathers of the Church and the Saints' teachings. We also got a ticket, because we parked and did not read the website's instructions about parking so I will post them here in my pictures.

Beautifully Awesome Church! The music they play here is awesome. There’s a gift shop. You will be able to grow in your relationship with Jesus with the sacraments here. Without any doubt going to Sacred Heart is a great opportunity to take advantage of! Have a great day! Know God loves you! My fiancé and I were visiting from Orlando and attended the Sunday Mass. The people were friendly and welcoming and the bookstore is so nice! The church looks so beautiful too. There was a bit of a hold up when we tried parking that we were almost late, but we’re so blessed to have had the opportunity to come here, thank you!

I was in town for a baptism and the father gave a great service with humor, not the normal boring type. I must say this is a magnificent church for the architecture.

Absolutely beautiful church. If you attend mass, they will validate parking, which is in a garage since the church is in downtown town. The music is lively and people tend to linger inside the church after mass and have loud conversations so it's a little hard to have some silence on a Sunday. The members are welcoming to people visiting. There is a gift shop with very kind ladies right next to the church.

Old and rustic Romanesque Catholic Church. If you ever need time with G-D or silence, it’s perfect. Sometimes have Franciscan Monks singing/chanting on speakers which makes it all the more calming. Birds all over the place!

Free weekend parking next door at the garage. Must get this green stamp by an usher at Mass (don’t leave ticket in car). Free for 30 minutes before/after Mass time.
