Good coffee! Really friendly baristas. My waffle was undercooked - it tasted very floury and dense. They eventually gave me a new waffle cooked for longer on the griddle - server wanted me to argue with the cook, barista behind the counter was super politely and generous and immediately let me exchange it - but even though the outsides were a little burnt, indicating they left it on the griddle a long as possible, the center was still very floury and tasted undercooked. Darn shame -- when I had it a few years ago it was honestly sublime, so I guess they had an off day or changed their recipe altogether. Not recommended. The other thing that's a little annoying is the lighting in the cafe -- they have this beautiful brass ceiling but ugly panel lights. They have one row of lights lit on the right side of the store, making that section overly bright but glaring, whereas they've turned off the other two thirds of the lights on the left hand side of the cafe, making that side overly dark. Then there's the lighting from the windows, which is nice but doesn't extend all of the way to the store...the impression is gloomy, which is sad because, again, they have beautiful panels of pressed bronze on the ceiling. They have good lighting where the baristas are serving drinks. I'm guessing this is a hold over from when the place used to be a deli, maybe the landlord won't let them change it or they ran out of money from the move. It just makes it not a super pleasant place to sit. Go for the good coffee and the pleasant service, and large seating area; don't go for the waffles.

I’m originally from Staten Island and used to rave about Beans & Leaves. I went back for a visit and was disappointed. There were no longer a lot of vegan options. I wound up having almond butter toast, which was just okay and something I could easily have made at home. My husband liked his muffin and iced coffee. But my coffee was awful. I got the biscoff latte, which was on their hot coffee specials menu. The barista gave me an iced drink and I told her I had wanted it hot. When I got the hot one, there was NO flavor at all and the espresso tasted burnt and like the shot didn’t pull correctly. It was undrinkable - I even made my husband try it and he agreed. Not wanting to send a second drink back, I just threw it out. I would give Beans & Leaves another try next time, but definitely won’t go out of my way like I did this time to make the trip there.

Not only does beans have the best coffee it has an ever expanding food menu and friendliest staff. I love the staff coffee recommendations they always have delicious suggestions. The new space really opened up their potential for grabbing breakfast with the family or brunch with friends. I have had them cater several events and have great communication and are very accommodating. What a local gem!

This coffee shop is everything a community spot should be—warm, welcoming, and consistently excellent. The food is fresh and genuinely delicious, the coffee is always spot‑on, and the atmosphere makes you want to linger just a little longer. What really sets this place apart, though, is the people behind it. The owner and management team go above and beyond for their customers. You can feel how much pride they take in what they do, from remembering regulars’ orders to making sure every guest feels taken care of. Their commitment to quality and kindness has turned this café into more than just a place to grab a bite—it’s become a real asset to the neighborhood. If you’re looking for great food, great service, and a place that truly cares about its community, this is it. Sandra H

This is my must have breakfast spot when in NYC, yes I WILL cross the bridge for Beans n Leaves. Their breakfast and coffee do not disappoint with a decent menu selection. Specialty waffles, croissant french toast, omelets, and fresh baked goodies, any one you choose is yummy. Service is good and food is prepared to order quickly. Street parking is free on Sundays and there's usually a spot or two available. Establishment is wheelchair accessible however bathroom is not, and getting around some tables may be challenging.

I heard about this place through a posting on Instagram, so I put this place down as a must try the next time I drive to Staten Island. This is such a sweet breakfast place, and the staff here is so friendly and welcoming. They have a decent menu of primarily specialty waffles and French Toast. I opted to go with the S'Mores Waffle, and it was absolutely amazballs and super filling. I also ordered the Mocha Latte, and that was great as well. The prices are very reasonable and the place is clean. Parking in the area was pretty easy to find as well. For those who are not familiar with the area, like myself, I wanted to let everyone know that they recently moved across the street from their original location, right next to Kettle Black. I will definitely come back here again the next time I happen to be driving down in this area. And maybe next time, I will pick up some of the pastries people have been raving about.

Editing this because when I have had positive experiences everything was delicious. Having said that the employee said her manager told them they weren’t allowed to so maybe have a chat with you staff 🤷🏻‍♀️ Im new to SI and have been looking for a coffee shop and I thought I found my spot! I’ve been frequenting beans and leaves almost every single day for over two months and it’s a rare occasion that your coffee order comes out the same way each time especially with their drinks of the month. I finally found a flavor profile I liked and now they’re telling me they are not allowed to make it even though they have the syrups. I’m sorry but that makes zero sense to me.

I was planning to go to this place with people from JCC. I learned that this was just a breakfast place, so I went here with my community hab worker the next day, Saturday morning 🌅 and my experience was a good time. 👌I wanted to purchase one of the drinks, cookies and cream frappe with chocolate chip muffin. ☕🧁 My com hab worker was nice enough to pay it for me. We sat down in one of their tables and chairs for a short bite. I also took one of their calling cards for information. The atmosphere is a little fancy and generic. Sometimes their service is a little busy, but I didn't mind. 😎 I would recommend coming back here to this Cafe which is 7 minutes from my house 🏠. Also to try out more of their drinks and pastries. 🥐🥯🥞🧇
