Glad we visited if anything for the history and honoring those wrongly convicted. It’s disappointing that it wasn’t more of a memorial. It is off the side of a residential street with no parking. For a city that receives so much revenue from the events from that era, one would expect more of a reverent experience.
Nice memorial at the sight of the hanging tree. It's located in a residential neighborhood with no parking, but its only a 10 minute drive from main street. The tree is full of hair ties and small trinkets of memorial.
I live the history of Salem and this place while also eerie is also so cool. If this is where these people were hanged, I wonder if they are still "here"
Historically accurate location of the hangings of the innocent in Salem for this memorial. Well kept, and clean. The energy was definitely a little sad/dense, but I could also feel a lot of healing and loving energy has been sent there too. Not necessarily a must see, but if you have time to spare and want to see it, it's an easy walk.
Tucked away little piece of history. Park at the abandoned Walgreens. A 3 min stop with not much to see except to tie the knot in the history of the area.
What an amazing part of history. We go to Salam MA often and when we do this is one of the places we visit to pay our respects to the people that were hung for no reason. Deemed as witches due to a bunch of children that cried wolf. I always tell the people that I bring to pay their respects. In that day it goes to show you how much more powerful religion was. Because if you were deemed a witch and could still recite the Lords Prayer you were suppose to be clean. They just said it was the Devil and that poor soul was hung anyway.
Tangible link to the Salem Witch Trials My daughter (13) and I visited the site on July 1, 2025. We were alone and had a nice peaceful reflection at the location. This is the actual location where the executions took place, confirmed by ground-penetrating radar in 2016. Thus this location and memorial offer a tangible link to the Salem Witch Trials, allowing a better understanding of this dark chapter in history and the consequences of mass hysteria. By remembering the events at Proctor's Ledge, the memorial serves as a reminder of the dangers of prejudice, unfounded accusations, and the importance of tolerance and due process. Please take time to visit and reflect on these events.
