What a great place that has survived since 1915. We try to get here at least once each year which isn’t enough. Always get a milkshake when you come! Had the banana this time and it was oversized made with real ice cream and banana. The Rueben is a perfect balance of corned beef, sauerkraut and thousand island on rye. Others had the Big Grilled Cheese and chocolate shakes which were all great too. Grabbed some candy on the way out and even some to ship to some family in Vermont! It’s that good. Weekday afternoons are a great time to stop in and avoid any lines.

First time here. I really liked the food and want to come back for more. The BLT is as advertised. Too much but, hey save half for later. The chili and chili Mac was delicious. The Turkey bacon mets were also very good. The roast beef and cheddar was good as well. The Sundays are delicious too. Did not have the candy but they have a large selection and you can order online. Staff were courteous and professional. The place is as advertised. All of the tables either seat 4 or 2 in booths so it is not good for groups larger that 4. It is possible to have conversations at your booth. Not too loud. They have outdoor seating across the seat - they pack your lunch picnic style. I hope to have lunch here again. It's a historical gem for St. Louis.

This place is so awesome like a little time capsule from the wall decor, the ice cream bar or the little retro jukebox on every table. The service was awesome the employees where very nice and helpful and happy to answer all of are questions. We got a raspberry ice cream, 2 strawberry milkshakes and a butterscotch malt. When I say this was some of the best ice cream I have ever had it was so good, they have actual food as well we sadly didn't know that before going so we didn't eat anything but we saw some plates and it looked pretty good portion size. Now there was a wait so plan for that but there where moving people out pretty quick. I would highly recommend it you have the time and are in the area was a really cool experience

First time here got there about 4 (and hour before close) on a Friday and they were busy but there was seating available. For the chili and a chocolate marshmallow malt. The chili is traditional chili (no beans). The malt was awesome and delicious and there was so much there. Easily filled the glass twice and it was so cold it kept while i.ste and worked on the first half.

My wife and I recently learned about this place although it's been around for more than a hundred years. So we tried it out as part of our celebration of our 20th anniversary. My wife is very pleased with her grilled cheese sandwich. And I was extremely pleased with my heart stopping BLT! What's literally 1 lb of bacon! The shakes were also very good and very plentiful. The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was very nostalgic. Definitely look forward to eating there again someday.

A dear friend and colleague of mine recommended this fine establishment as he grew up in this area. All I can say is WOW. Absolutely delicious!! I am not a miracle whip fan, but wow what a combo. The sundae's were also spectacular. Now I think my blood is think as motor oil.. but we'll worth it.

St Louis' oldest soda fountain brings the nostalgia. Shakes, malts, sundaes, and sandwiches. Great vibes from the old booths and vintage signs. Create your own malts with different mix-ins, and let me tell you- they don't Skimp! They use the old steel tumblers and they give all of it to you with a glass. Two people can easily share a milk shake. My wife and I ordered a hot fudge/ marshmallow malt and it was supreme. She ordered the ham n cheese melt while I ordered their signature heart stopping BLT. Both sandwiches were piled high with meat, although the BLT did utilize a full 16oz of bacon. It was huge! And delicious. Lunch was reasonably priced. Expect to pay and 20+per person. Prime lunch hours get busy and lines form up outside. Candy and chocolate are also available to order.

Heard all about the great malts and huge BLT and it did not disappoint! Our small group went around 2pm on a Saturday and got sat right away, no problems. We indulged in the chocolate malt, cherry shake, heart stopping BLT, grilled ham & cheese and the big cheese. The BLT was great, but definitely made us close to saying there was too much bacon (which we didn’t know was possible!) The bread was perfectly toasted & buttery for every sandwich. Highly recommend for casual, throwback dining with quality food for the price.
