We checked out the equipment and boarding area the day before the trip when no one was around. The cars and engine exteriors and the venue were not in flawless repair and the site wasn't well advertised in town and seemed a bit forlorn. On the day of the trip, however, lively music was playing and the boarding process was handled quickly and professionally. Staff were helpful, enthusiastic and friendly. Inside, the cars looked much better than on the outside. The lounge car we were in was very comfortable and even lavish in a 1950's manner. The "climate control" worked perfectly (on a very hot day) but was not over-cooled. An excellent mix of appropriate background music was played throughout the trip and at a pleasant, not invasive loudness level. Food and food service (included in the lounge car price) both were excellent with good wine and beer available for purchase. The train was quiet and smooth. The scenery magnificent all the way with excellent docent commentary. Bald eagles were all over the place in The Trough (we saw 24 birds - some in flight - and several nests). The sunset trip we took couldn't have been nicer. Our final rating would be excellent and exceeds expectations! Great job, Potomac Eagle!

What a beautiful ride with amazing scenery. Staff was amazing and my waitress was so upbeat and happy. You could tell she loved her job! I was in superior with a meal. Kudos to the chef. Every bite was like a taste of heaven

This was on our bucket list for a few years and made last minute reservations as we were passing through. The staff was absolutely amazing - treated us like royalty! The 3-hour ride to Petersburg was a relaxing and peaceful slow and scenic trip that just gave you a chance to unwind. Additionally, the dining experience on a dining car was such a memorable experience and highly recommended! The staff offered historical information and facts to support the various scenes we passed through. The views were amazing and, as advertised, we were able to see many eagles along the route. The way back was raining but no less enjoyable. This should be on your to-do list for sure! It brings the kid out in you for sure!

We had a wonderful trip on the Potomac Eagle Scenic Railroad. The train ride was relaxing, comfortable, and a great way to enjoy the beautiful mountain and river scenery. The views along the route were peaceful and scenic, and the whole experience made for a really enjoyable day. The seating was very comfortable, and the service throughout the trip was excellent. The meal was served tapas-style shortly after departure rather than as a traditional dinner service. The portions were adequate, and the food was generally good overall. The meatball was the only letdown — it was bland and tasted more like a rolled-up hamburger without much flavor. I would skip it and order the cauliflower instead. We upgraded to Club Service, which was an additional $80 over the $74 standard coach fare, so it more than doubled the cost of the ticket. Even with that in mind, we felt it was worth it. The Club car sits at the very end of the train, so it feels private with no passenger foot traffic passing through, and the adults-only environment made the trip even more relaxing. They also offer a great gluten-free option, but be sure to contact them in advance to secure it. Overall, this was a comfortable, scenic, and memorable experience. The Club Service upgrade is definitely pricey, but for us, it made the trip feel more special and was worth the splurge.

It was a new experience. Enjoyed the history of the area. Seeing the eagles was great! The dinner was adequate. The weather was windy but not overly cool. I am glad for the experience and really enjoyed the car ride from Martinsburg to Romney through tge mountains. All in all a really enjoyable day. Thank You!!

10/10 experience! Would highly recommend this trip. From check in, to boarding. The whole experience was wonderful. The narration the whole time kept you in the loop when to view eagles. What buildings and sights were coming up. The history of the overall trip. The food was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the journey. Will definitely be back for other rides.
