Visitor notes
It was honestly so fun! The tour guide was very friendly and taught us some interesting facts about certain things in the museum. The museum was way bigger than I had originally thought so I didn't get to see the fly girl part of the museum but that just means another reason to come back! The bathrooms were super clean and all the staff were so friendly and accommodating!
What a fun and informative museum! My son and I went midday on a Thursday. We did not take a tour, we did the self-guided version, and it was lovely. A ton of great information and artifacts from that time period!
It was an amazing experience! I booked a hotel near the museum so I could take my husband! He is a huge history buff and absolutely loves airplanes. There was an amazing tour included in the price of your ticket which I thought made the experience even better! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Tickets were $13 each.
If I could give this museum more than 5 star, I would. We pass by here several times a year going up and down I-95 and finally had time to stop. The museum is much larger than it looks from the highway. There are several full size planes, including a B-17 bomber. You get to see several movies about the 8th Air Force, and there are so many other exhibits both inside and outside. We planned on stopping for a half hour or so, but wound up staying a full 2 hours and didn’t see everything. Anyone who is interested in WWII events needs to visit. We enjoyed the vast memorial gardens and a chapel with stained glass windows honoring fallen comrades. The docents are all knowledgeable and helpful.
Came here to get a little bit of a peek at the military history/aspect of Savannah, Georgia. While here we didn’t get bored at all, every exhibit was different and complex. I would personally say my favorite part was the refurbished B-17 in the museum. Finally, I was so impressed with the immense size of this museum and detail of ALL the parts of it. I will definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun family-friendly historical visit!
The National Museum of the Mighty 8th Air Force (Corps) is both a national treasure and fitting tribute, to the men and women who willingly volunteered and gave their all, to protect and defend Life, Liberty and Freedom. As the son of an 8th Air Corps B-17 radio operator, I'm reminded of how blessed I am to be alive and enjoy the freedoms, so many gave their lives for. The memorial garden and chapel are good places to reflect on those things. The museum itself is an exceptionally well-curated collection of exhibits, including a B-17, P-51, German fighter and many more historical pictures and artifacts. The short films and dioramas provide visitors with a rare glimpse of the lives and times and battles, waged by air crews and those who supported them. I highly recommend this museum to every person, family and group. You won't be disappointed and will hopefully be inspired, to honor the sacrifices the men and women of the Mighty 8th Air Force made, and selflessly defend the Republic against "All Enemies, Foreign AND Domestic!"
This was an awesome museum, very educational. Stay the whole day and take it all in. A don't miss when visiting Savannah GA, just a few minutes down the road in Garden City. It's a WWII museum that honors the era and the countries and veterans that fought against Germany's. Great presentations and displays. ❤️💯
