Lo-Lo's Chicken & Waffles

After landing in Arizona, every TikTok video said we had to try this spot. I’m usually skeptical of TikTok recommendations, but my wife was excited, so we stopped by after grabbing our rental. It’s only about 12 minutes from the airport, and with that Arizona heat, I was just happy to get inside and get some water. First impressions: The restaurant isn’t flashy, but it’s clean, comfortable, and easy to move around in. No over‑the‑top décor — just a simple, welcoming vibe with nice, subtle music. I’d give the atmosphere a solid 9/10. Service: The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. A1 — 100/10. Our waitress (from New Orleans) was one of the best I’ve ever had: personable, friendly, caring, attentive, and quick. I hate that I can’t remember her name, but trust me, she made Chick‑fil‑A employees look unmotivated. That’s how good she was. Drinks: I ordered a half‑and‑half, and the portion size was great. Not too sweet, not watered down — just right. My meal: I always get chicken and waffles everywhere I go, so I stuck with that. They told me the chicken was their specialty, and it was good — not the best I’ve ever had, but definitely solid. The waffle reminded me of Waffle House in a good way. Overall, I’d give my meal an 8.5/10. My wife’s meal: She went full Southern: chicken, collard greens, mac & cheese, candied yams, and cornbread. • Cornbread: Pretty good — not over the top, but definitely not bad. I compare everything to my father’s cornbread, and this still earned an 8/10. • Chicken: Good, not amazing — but no complaints. • Mac & cheese: Very cheesy but missing something. As a cook, I know you can’t eat everybody’s mac & cheese. This one was a 6.5/10. • Yams: Excellent. 10/10. • Collard greens: Really good — also 10/10 — even though they were out of turkey. Still flavorful and still hitting. Overall: Taking everything into account, I’d give this place a strong 8/10. The service alone makes it worth the visit, and the food is definitely good enough to recommend. If you’re in the area — especially coming from the airport — it’s absolutely worth trying.

One of the best chicken diners we’ve been to in many many years. Every time we travel we visit LoLos at every state we visit. This one back home is our favorite one. Best hot crispy chicken there is! The staff is very attentive! My wife and I love it this place. We love bringing our grandkids to eat breakfast

Very pricey and chicken was really dry! Was our first time going and I was excited to try it. Being from the south it is hard to find good fried chicken. After have lunch and it cost us $75 for 2 of us and we drank water. We are still on the search for a place with good fried chicken.

Heard good things about this soul food restaurant. So we had to come see for ourselves, all true! We had a party of 6 on Memorial Day, they sat us immediately, which was very surprising! The waiter took our drink orders and appetizers. Very extensive menu front and back. The food was a little slow to come out but it was worth the wait. We had a family emergency and had to leave but come visit the Phoenix location it won't disappoint! Highly recommend and we will return on our next trip to AZ!

We’re visiting Phoenix and wanted to try some local soul food. Everything was delicious and this location was close to our hotel. The Mac and cheese, catfish, and corn bread were my favorite. Our server was very nice and provided a great service. Also the kool-aid was good and not too sweet. They were playing good music which added to our experience.

Came with my roommate - food was absolutely delicious and the portions are beyond generous. I got the #1 (KK Special) while my roommate got the shrimp and grits. I am usually a member of the clean plate club, but even I took a piece of chicken home as leftovers. Also a shout out to our server Allyssa who was just incredible. Fun, attentive, and always checking our table. If you haven’t been here yet - you need to make the trip

Lo Lo Chicken & Waffle feels very authentic, with lots of locals dining inside. The fried chicken is extremely tender, with a crispy skin that carries a rich, eggy aroma. The waffle is soft and fluffy, with a lovely butter and egg flavor — paired with syrup, it’s a classic and delicious combination. The biscuit tastes like a thicker version of a scone — soft yet still with a good bite. The gravy on top is quite strong, with an intense herb-and-garlic flavor. Portions are large, and the staff are very friendly and quick to offer takeout boxes. The only downside is that the music inside is quite loud, making conversation a bit difficult.

Listen!!! We didn't have to wait to be seated! Portions are huge.....we tried - Chicken omelet, Kiss my grits entree and appetizer Fish bites. Food really good. Atmosphere and decor on point., great vibes. DJ present on Sunday, perfect volume, not too loud at all. Staff very friendly. We will be returning....
