Conway Scenic Railroad

Overall it was a different experience riding the Conway Scenic Railroad. I’m not sure if I enjoyed it because the ride was a little bit nerve-racking for us. This train took us all the way up there through the mountains riding for hours. It was nice to see the beautiful views as we are riding but looking down while up there was not fun at all. The views of the rivers, the lakes, the forest, the rocks, the tall trees the beautiful mountains were breathtaking. God is amazing for creating nature, beauty & for creating life! There’s nothing like God, you just have to believe in Him. He is the way, the truth and life. Praise be to him! Anyway, we didn’t get to return by train due to some fire & lot of smoke that was happening somewhere in the mountains, we were stuck for 3 hours until the shuttle buses arrived and took us back to Conway. Personally I was glad that I didn’t ride back on the train, I was a little bit scared to be honest. Other than that, it was a different experience and I’m glad I was able to experience it.

My wife and I rode The Mountaineer this past Saturday and were completely thrilled with our experience. Engineer Mike gave an unbelievably smooth ride for his passengers while Kaleb, the Brakeman was very accommodating and answered questions throughout the day. Excellent customer service and great views along the way to Crawford Notch. For those expecting scenic vistas throughout the entire trip, you have to remember this railroad was built to haul freight a very long time ago. It wasn't built as a tourist attraction. Have an open mind and enjoy your journey!

This is a historic railroad located in the White Mountains and it was built in 1874. The station is in North Conway. We took a 55 minute round trip ride on this train during our visit. It's such a fun activity to do if you have kids, love history, and/or love trains. The employees were friendly, the seats were comfy, and the views were amazing. We went in May so the train was pretty empty; they gave us the option of riding in first class, free of charge. Score! They also told us stories and facts through the intercom. I highly recommend a visit!

Winter Mountaineer, $460+ for two people; First off I want to preface by saying that giving negative reviews is not usually my thing, especially to local business. But our experience was terrible enough it warrants it. Getting to the station was really nice, the building is pretty and picking up the tickets felt authentic and nice, it hit that spot you look for with this type of experience. Standing in line waiting for the train, they announce that we cannot bring any of our own snacks, wich was fine, we had pre-ordered a lunch box anyways. So we go back and drop of our snacks. The train attendant did a fantastic job, being enthusiastic and showed us all to the "Dome". The car itself is very nice and seats were in great shape, and thus the downhill experience kicks off. The heating in the car was set to around 80f, everyone was sweating bullets within minutes, 20 minutes in to the ride the attendant did some joke routine "Oh wow this cars heating must be in celcius", so they turn the heating off, thus making it cold very fast, up and down it goes. They have narrator on the PA system giving out information on the trip, now logically you think, that's nice, you get some tidbits here and there, cute! Wrong. He was talking constantly for 3 hours, all the while hacking and coughing, sounding like he was really struggling, in his own narrated words he was "getting over" a cold. Narration included things like talking about 5 families from the 1800s and how they died, struggled or whatever, or talking about milemarkers. The charisma this narrator displayed was aking to myself reading off a wikipedia page. It ruined the whole atmosphere in the cabin, so many of our fellow passengers did a quiet cheer of relief when he decided that the torture was finally over at 1.30pm. The food that we paid $20 per person for was pitiful and I would not have wished it upon my dogs. There was no butter on the sandwiches, the bread was extremely dry, and for condiments there was maybe a few mayo packets. It was truly the bottom of the barrel item you can get from a gas station for $2. It also included a whoopie pie, that I ate just to keep my bloodsugar up. One of the water bottles we got was frozen in the center. And there were a few "cheez it" style crackers with PB. The ride is advertised at 10:30am to 3:00pm, we got back at 2:25pm. So the only pleasant part where noone was screaming information (they do have excellent audio quality to my dismay) over the PA system was cut short by arriving 35 minutes before the supposed endtime. I guess we were very over it at that point and so were the tablemates we had for our ride, a few were cracking jokes about the experience as it was drawing to an end. I also reached out to their support, telling them it was a bad experience highlighting what went wrong, while still giving them positive feedback on the few things we liked (noone likes pure bad feedback). Their support staff thanked me for the good feedback, took zero accountability for the negative remarks and wished me well. Maybe offer something as recompense if this was a rare occurence, maybe a discounted ride at a later date, anything really. But they didn't even acknowledge the bad feedback at all. Two stars given, one for the views and one for the poor car attendant who really did try his hardest.

Поезд идёт минут двадцать в одну сторону, потом, тепловоз перегоняют в другой конец поезда и он возвращается тем же путем. Сидели на "верхней палубе" с прозрачными стенами и крышей. Очень сильно и шумно работает кондиционер, холодно. Была облачность. Лучше ехать в солнечную погоду. Фотографии лучше получатся.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My girlfriend and I took a weekend road trip and getaway to northern New Hampshire and decided to ride the Conway Scenic Railroad—and we absolutely loved it. The train itself was incredibly nostalgic. From the interior décor to the overall feel, it really captures the charm and history of classic rail travel. The views throughout the ride were beautiful, and we actually preferred the winter ride. With the foliage gone, you get much clearer sightlines of the rivers, canyons, and mountains in the distance. In the summer, I imagine a lot of that would be hidden behind the tree line. We also enjoyed the box lunch and snacks during the ride (note: the box lunch is an additional purchase and not included with the ticket), which was a nice touch and made the experience even more relaxing. Afterward, we spent time walking around town, exploring the shops, and just enjoying the atmosphere—it’s a really charming area. Overall, this was a highlight of our trip and something we’d absolutely recommend to anyone visiting the area, especially if you’re looking for a unique and scenic experience to share with someone special 🚂❤️

Excellent way to spend about 4 hours once you get onboard. Our conductors/information specialist let us know what was coming up as we traveled up the rails. The scenery was beautiful, I think we missed the best color by a few days , but still worth the ticket. There was a farmers market on the square ahead of the train station and parking was tight. Unfortunately, when we got to the top of the line, where we could have gotten off and toured the other transfer station, it was not expressed that the passengers in the rear of the train would have to walk through the railroad cars to get to the platform. There were many passengers who did not get off the train thinking that it was going to pull forward so the other cars would be able to disembark. So if you decide on going, And I do! Remember to walk forward if you’re sitting in the back of the train.
