This is a cool place to visit and the drinks prices here are pretty reasonable too! Our earlier bar tender was friendly and helpful but our later bar tender was far less so. The night started well, the piano tunes were on and everyone was singing along! As the night went on, it felt a little like people were being told off.... kinda ruined the vibe a bit. At one point I wasn't facing the piano as I had to move out the way so another patron could get to the bar and I was immediately told off and told to face the piano. I'd say maybe go earlier in the night when the vibe is more chilled and you'll have a great time! Check the website for their "rules" before you go, although it said you were not allowed to make videos there were many people making them. Good to know that this place is cash only, but they do have an ATM (which charges about $3) in the building.

I've always wanted to go to the piano bar that they since 1982 when I lived in Hoboken for a year. Well it took 44 years for me to finally make it but it was well worth every moment and I wish I had discovered it all those years ago but I guess it just made it even better now! The piano bar is in the basement level which has lower ceilings and a place was packed with singers and it was just such a wonderful atmosphere. Next time I'm in New York I'm definitely going back to Marie's crisis Cafe

Your soul needs to be in a room full of people joyously singing showtunes. We went around 9 on a Thursday in March and Marie’s was crowded but no wait get in. I’m not even a musicals lover and this was the most magical part of my trip to NYC. Just a lovely place with a diverse crowd of humans singing songs they love together. I cried bro! Don’t forget to tip the performers, their Venmos/cash apps are on the wall and there is also an ATM. Drinks were cheap and there are non-alcoholic options. Not a lot of seating if you are a person who can’t stand for a long time, but really just the best crowd.

I was excited to try this piano bar, but unfortunately the experience left a bad impression. The venue is cash-only and seems to operate heavily around tipping performers and staff, which wasn’t clearly explained to us at first. When we were confused about how it worked, instead of calmly explaining the concept, the bartender became aggressive and made uncomfortable comments along the lines of, “this is how we do it in our country.” There’s nothing wrong with having house rules or a unique style, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily hostile and unwelcoming. A little patience and professionalism would have gone a long way, especially with first-time customers who were genuinely trying to understand the setup. The atmosphere and music had potential, but the interaction with staff made it hard to enjoy the night.

This place is magical. Such a sense of community when you walk in. Brooke at the door is a rockstar! She made us feel so welcome, gave us the run down and history of the bar and added so much character to the experience. The rest of the staff were all so friendly and nice. Come here for a night you won't forget that will leave you feeling elevated.

Fantastic venue, amazing pianist with a wonderful selection of Broadway tunes to sing along. Bartender was great, service was great - definitely one of the highlights of my trip to NYC!!!

When Marie’s Crisis sent a temporary version to Sydney a decade ago, I vowed to check out the original in New York. All expectations exceeded! What an amazing friendly venue and vibe. The history is fascinating too. NB it is cash-only but there’s an ATM upstairs if you come prepared with a card.

Ahh I really wanted to love this place. Unfortunately I don't think I got the memo on the *etiquette* for a place that is a bar, but I guess you're not allowed to talk at a normal (literally not loud) volume while there is singing. Could I have been told if that was the case in a normal way? Yes! Was I? No! It was a very aggressive "shush" from the bartender...... c'mon. I didn't argue with him, I didn't yell, I did what a very respectable woman does and passively aggressively complain about the rude bartender later on in the night (again not even loudly, it's a packed bar...I couldn't be loud enough to make a difference if I tried) and the bartender and bouncer, I guess, went on a power trip and told me to leave. It's wild that it's cool for jerk bartenders to kick out people they don't like (aka don't like them). Bouncer was totally cool with the aggro behavior when I tried to explain what happened. Left and cried will not be back again.
