We had an amazing experience in Cipriani Las Vegas where we had our wedding lunch in 2023, so we decided to try Cipriani Downtown when we moved in Manhattan last year. Yesterday was the second time in this location and I would like to say thanks to Fabio which is the manager there. He was so kind with us since the first moment. Everything was perfect. The food is real Italian (we are Italian so we know!!!) and all the drinks were amazing and everyone was very professional. If I have to say something, I think it would be better if you have wine glasses insted the regolar glass! We enjoyed every single moment and we can't wait to come back very soon!
...ask the Waiter to order what he would take, that's the easy way and it resultados. I can give the Lamb chops a 10 of 10. I nibbled the meat off the chops with my bares hands, so good were these. Attentive great service, easy to get to know your neighbor diners since the tables are very close to each other which I enjoyed a lot. Delicious & Fun ambient!
On June 5th, I had one of the most disappointing birthday experiences I have ever had.
I went to celebrate my special day with my sister at Cipriani Soho. We had made a reservation and arrived on time, but unfortunately, from the hostess to the waitstaff, the entire experience felt extremely uncomfortable.
We felt dismissed and unwelcome, almost as if our presence there was an inconvenience. The atmosphere and service made us so uncomfortable that I did not even feel comfortable asking if they could hold the small cake I had brought just so we could sing happy birthday.
Sadly, I would not recommend this restaurant. It was a very disappointing choice for what was supposed to be a happy celebration.
Came for a big birthday celebration with 8 people and had a great experience! The service was truly fantastic and so was the food.
The rigatoni alla vodka and bolognese were standouts. Pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauces were just right - simple but delicious. The chilean sea bass fell apart to the touch. The cucumber salad was crisp and bright. All the desserts were yummy - vanilla meringue cake was fluffy and airy.
The only issue is how small the restaurant is. When I say tight quarters… i mean TIGHT! You don’t even know where to stand because a million waiters and patrons are constantly trying to maneuver through the place. It’s quite overstimulating, luckily we were a large party that was seated in the back.
The food at Cipriani Downtown NYC was absolutely spectacular. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and definitely lived up to the restaurant's reputation.
That said, the overall experience was mixed. The restaurant is not very family-friendly, which is something to keep in mind if you're dining with children.
My biggest disappointment was the service at the beginning of the meal. The first waiter who attended us was incredibly arrogant and made us feel unwelcome. Fortunately, we asked to have our server changed, and the gentleman who took over (I unfortunately don't remember his name) was simply outstanding. He was professional, attentive, kind, and completely turned our experience around.
The restaurant should pay closer attention to the attitude of some of its waitstaff. No matter how prestigious a restaurant is, there is no place for arrogance in hospitality. Great food deserves great service, and while our second server delivered exactly that, the first impression left by the initial waiter was unacceptable.
I went with the dish of the day and started with a delicious burrata so fresh and flavorful. The salmon and salad were excellent as well. I finished with their famous meringue cake, which was good, though slightly below my expectations compared to the other dishes. The atmosphere is amazing, the staff is very attentive, and the place never feels pretentious. My friend had a cappuccino and I had a latte both were truly fantastic, freshly made and full of flavor. And of course, their Bellini is a must have, so refreshing and perfectly balanced. On my next visit I’ll definitely try the carpaccio and pasta. Overall, Cipriani truly lives up to its quality and hype
We made a reservation for an outdoor table in advance, but when we arrived, we were given one of the worst tables available.
The most disappointing part of the evening was the manager’s behavior. Before I arrived, my friends ordered desserts and drinks while waiting for me. Instead of welcoming them, the manager came over in front of other guests and, in a rude and arrogant tone, said: “This is not a café, this is a restaurant. You need to order dinner.” He embarrassed my friends and made them feel very uncomfortable.
When I arrived, we immediately ordered a full dinner. There were five of us, and our total bill came to about $600. The restaurant had already included an automatic 20% gratuity, and we still left an additional tip because we appreciated our server’s work. Despite that, the manager continued to make us feel unwelcome.
If the manager hadn’t ruined the atmosphere, we would have stayed longer, ordered more food and drinks, and probably spent $1,000–$1,500.
Our complaint is not about the waiter—he was polite and did a good job. Our complaint is entirely about the manager. Guests should never be embarrassed or lectured simply because they ordered desserts and drinks while waiting for the rest of their party.
I am attaching a copy of our receipt because I want people to see that we paid our bill, paid the automatic gratuity, and still tipped extra. Unfortunately, the manager’s attitude completely ruined what should have been a great evening.
Sadly, because of this experience, I will not be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant.
Cipriani Downtown was fantastic! The service was truly impeccable and the atmosphere warm and inviting. The Baby Artichoke and Avocado Salad with Shaved Parmesan..WOW! The steak tartare was excellent. We had the calf’s liver, which was absolutely out of this world, so rich and flavorfu! The rigatoni with zucchini was delicious. For dessert, the mille-feuille was so light and the perfect finish to the meal. Everything was beautifully prepared and the entire experience felt effortless and elegant. Highly recommend!
