Entry to the cathedral costs now. The outer grounds are open and free all days, but inner grounds are closed weekdays. The statues are very cool. A lot of the land has been sold since I last visited, presumably to pay for finishing the building. I was heartened to see they provide services (food and clothing, possibly hygiene kits) to homeless people now, as is right. The stonework always has lots of interesting variety and is worth looking carefully at. Bet a guided tour would be fascinating, but I didn’t have time this visit.
This is the most beautiful biggest church I have ever been in. The sheer beauty inside and out is almost overwhelming. I was lucky to see Robert Plant there. The sound was the best i heard on this tour my third show. The crowd was better than the other venues as they were mostly silent during the songs. Robert is doing age appropriate music includes a song from 1790. Visit the church id you can.
This is an absolutely gorgeous cathedral. In addition to the architecture of the church, you can see wonderful exhibits demonstrating the community nature of the church and its commitment to social justice and the arts. I performed with a choir there decades ago. This is the first time I've been back in years, and it is just as magnificent as I remembered.
St. John the Divine is equal parts large and majestic. Somehow the church’s facade may be outdone by the incredible fountain in its garden. A must see for anyone on the upper upperwest side.
It was really cool but I think $15 per person is pretty pricey. Also a bit too dim. Appreciate how accepting they are with LGBTQ though
The Cathedral of St. John the Divine is a very beautiful church cathedral with beautiful stained glass windows and beautiful gothic marble inside. It is an Episcopal Church located in the Morningside Heighrs neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The cathedral is a very welcoming and accepting Episcopal Church where persons of all backgrounds are welcome to visit.
The largest cathedral in the northern hemisphere of the equator. It is characterized by profound spirituality and a deep sense of peace and tranquility for all who need it. I recommend visiting it to anyone who wishes to feel close to God and in need of Him.
