What a beautiful museum! The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The museum was free and expansive, covering a variety of topics and the timeline of TN history. I recommend wearing good shoes and planning to spend a couple hours here. They had a great children's area with lots of things to do. This museum is within walking distance to the capitol building, and there was a good amount of free parking.

Love me a free museum! I enjoyed wondering through the different sections. You could definitely spend a few hours here. I liked how modern it is with lots of places to sit and watch videos. The balcony around the second floor is nice. Definitely worth a visit.

Free admission. We went on a Friday, not busy at all. This place is so big it can take 5 hours or more. If you stop and watch the information videos, play music trivia (which is really fun). Outside deck on the 2nd floor where you can get amazing pictures or just sit down and enjoy the view!

This museum is very well maintained and has great exhibits; from pre-historic times which my kids really enjoyed to many interactive battle displays. We also loved the Tennessee Playlist exhibit. The little kids area is also very fun! In addition, it has parking and it’s across from all the Farmers Market. It was the perfect FREE family Saturday activity for a cold day!

While the museum itself is outstanding, the weekend staff and total lack of parking ruined our trip. I drove a group of 5 senior men and being their chaperone was challenging when they made me move my handicapped van from the entry circle. The adjacent lot was overfilled due to the Farmers Market. I had no where to park while my group were left alone in the galleries. There were 11 other cars who remained parked in the circle driveway after I was forced to move. Where do your buses and school buses park with passengers? The security officers need an attitude check.

For a free museum this place is quite grand. Many interesting details about individual counties with Tennessee. A close walk to the indoor farmers market for snacks or lunch and beautiful grounds to enjoy the weather.

Great place to learn about Tennessee's history before the War of Independence up to the present. Exhibits are top-notch and especially enjoyed the one covering the state's contribution to music. Parking is free.

This is one of the better state museums i have visited. The displays are well done and targeted for both young and mature audiences. It's free and well worth a visit.
