This was my first time at the Naper Settlement, in Naperville, Illinois. I was here early Saturday morning to set up my booth for the Naperville Women's Club Arts & Artisans Fair. The Settlement includes more than a dozen historic structures which collectively tell the story of the early settlers of this region of Illinois. Spead across well-groomed grounds, the area is picturesque. After setting up my extensive display of my handprinted photographs and books, with the help of my godson, Ben, I spent some time exploring this unique place. The art fair lasted two days, and was a success (I also received an award of merit!) but the images of this remarkable experience will stay with me for years to come!

It was a good place to visit to learn of Naperville's history. Outdoor "museum" with 30 historic buildings. They also have a 250th anniversary of the U.S. exhibit with a lot of cool, historical things. Our visit was affected by a number of school field trips, so we were shut out of a few buildings, including the Martin Mitchell Mansion, which is the main attraction, so that detracted from our visit. Not the Settlement's fault, but still, we were affected. Overall, it was an interesting place to visit for a few hours on our way home from a 15 day trip out west.
Two friends and I attended a show out on by the company Fever, called the serial killer speakeasy at the Naper settlement…This was such an incredible show! It highlighted four famous serial killers ; Gein, Dahmer, Gacy, and Bundy. The hosts/servers/actors were amazing. The cocktails were delicious and so cute and on theme. I definitely recommend this show to anyone who is interested in serial killers and the history… We had such a blast!
Fun and educational for kids and adults alike. Great way to learn about life over a hundred years ago! The people that work here are very kind and passionate about what they do and about teaching others. Cute little play area and splash pad for kids to burn energy.
It was an exciting experience for my child. The blacksmith, printing press, old-style house with a contemporary kitchen and furniture, classroom, and other exhibits were fun to explore. The highlight was the bracelet-making and squirrel feeder-making activities. My daughter loved spending time creating these with her parents while enjoying a nice hot chocolate available nearby. It’s a great place to keep kids engaged. The entry fee was $6 per person.
As a wedding photographer, Naper Settlement’s historic chapel is pure magic. The vintage, dimly lit ambiance makes every photo feel nostalgic and timeless—honestly, it’s like stepping into a Christmas movie. Although it's a stunning venue for anytime of the year, I personally think it's so perfect for holiday weddings, with cozy, romantic vibes that make couples and guests feel like they’ve been transported back in time. -Mikayla + Capture the Canvas Photography, INC
Such a great hands on museum and way to step back in time to experience a moment in our history. Great for families or a large group field trip. So many knowledgeable workers that are great at engaging with visitors of all ages. The museum exhibits are truly top notch and engaging.
Went for the Taco fest based on an Instagram review. Food and music was good but no real alcohol. Just cans of some Mexican margaritas/beer and bottled wine sold by the cup.
