EDITED TO ADD: I went to the ER the other day in excruciating pain. I have gallstones that have been passing it seems, and I went to the hospital around 2:00 a.m. in the worst pain of my life! Mind you, I had all my children without epidurals, and this pain more than exceeded the pain I felt and birthing my children. Anyway, I was in wailing pain and vomiting violently and loudly. The triage nurse, Devin, came out to let me know I would need to be patient all he was triaging another patient because I was in excruciating pain and begging for them to help me faster. Then, while he was triaging me and I was a violently vomiting, he proceeded to remind me that there were other patients in the hospital and that I needed to be quiet. It was the worst and rudest behavior I could have possibly imagined. Original Post: I have only been twice. But, it is DIRTY. This was the air vent above the hospital bed in the emergency room we were at the other day. Noting, this is not a small air vent, it is about 4 ft wide and at least 8 in tall. Each little hole is at least a half inch by half inch. It was disgustingly obvious how dirty it was. Again, the care was good so I'm grateful for that first and foremost. But I also want to know that the hospital is sanitary, and looking at this I can't really believe it's that sanitary.

My review is based on my 2 recent experiences with 2 separate Duke facilities in Mooresville, NC within the past 6 months. What they don’t tell you is that even if your insurance company shows them as in-network & that therapies won’t go against your deductible & you’ll only owe a copay, they’ll end up coding it as “hospital outpatient” so it goes against your deductible & you’ll receive bills for hundreds or thousands of dollars your insurance plan doesn’t show you owe, but the facility won’t change the coding. Their business office will continue to call & harass you even though your insurance shows you only owe a $50 copay. This is out-of-network billing even though they showed as in-network! More recently, I had a colonoscopy there because it was the only option for the day of the week my husband could take me, however I’d rather find a neighbor, or even a stranger, to take me to the to another Hospital or Endoscopy Center, rather than the Duke Lake Norman Surgery Center, for any kind of surgical procedure. The surgery center was extremely dirty. They weren’t cleaning the plastic mattresses/beds, the tray or anything else, between patients & I saw a nurse wiping up blood with only a Kleenex. The procedure room looked like a junk room. It made me wonder if the instruments they were about to use in my procedure were sterile, or even cleaned at all. Most of the check-in staff, nurses & the anesthesiologist were pleasant enough, but the facility either didn’t seem to have any cleaning protocol, or they weren’t following one, which is extremely concerning for a surgery center! I recently took my husband for a colonoscopy at a hospital in Charlotte & he told me they were disinfecting everything!

My experience with Duke health was good! The Hospital was clean and the staff was very professional! Julie my Pre opt nurse was very caring and supportive! Both Kelly’s in the prep and recovery were awesome. The whole anesthesia team and operating team were great. I highly recommend them , sincerely Tom

I truly cannot thank the labor and delivery team enough for the amazing care I received. Dr. Miller, Sherrill, Brenna, and the entire staff were absolutely incredible from beginning to end. Everyone was so sweet, patient, gentle, and caring — not only with my baby, but with me as well. They made me feel comfortable, safe, and supported every step of the way. They took the time to explain everything to me, answered all of my questions, and made sure I understood what was happening throughout the entire process. As a mom, especially during such a vulnerable moment, that meant everything to me. The love, compassion, and professionalism this team showed will never be forgotten. I’m beyond grateful for the way they cared for both me and my baby. Thank you all for making such a special moment even more beautiful.

My father had shoulder replacement surgery yesterday. The hosptail was nice, clean, neat. The staff from check in to check out was great. The nurses , doctors were too. Had no issues at all. Was very pleased with the staff and care he received. Beth his nurse in phase two was very nice, his pt Debbie was great and gave great instructions. The food was good as well. The prices were very reasonable. Both my parents had surgery there years ago but since then the place has stepped up and i was very pleased with this place.

Lacking in basic care - I recently took my 13yo in to be seen after an urgent care triage nurse advised us to do so. Upon arrival of the ER, the front desk intake nurse was very kind and put my daughter’s nerves at ease while taking her stats and we were very quickly brought back. Her friendliness and the short wait time are my two stars. Once we started telling the nurse what was going on, I think her intentions were to put our minds at ease but, I couldn’t help but feel like she was just brushing it off. You would think after mentioning that urgent care told us to go to the ER that they would have a more concerned demeanor and perform a thorough exam. My daughter had very noticeable swelling in her face and an extremely large lymph node in her neck as well as a lingering low grade fever all following a tick bite two weeks prior. I repeatedly mentioned she did not respond to Benadryl. No bloodwork was ordered, no flu/covid/RSV/strep swabs were even mentioned, and they did not even examine her throat. They told us the fever was an unrelated virus and the swelling was caused by allergies and to take allergy medicine and Tylenol/ibuprofen for pain management. I just knew this was not allergies and something else was going on. She was taken to a different ER after a fever spike and it turns out she has had strep throat and was in immediate need of antibiotics - all of which could have been caught had this ER simply looked at her throat. As parents, being your child’s advocate is the most important thing & to not be taken seriously is extremely upsetting.

I was very surprised how well they treated us. They had us in and out. I had expected to be there at least 3 hours waiting but that was not the case. The staff were all pleasant to work with. Thank you. Keep up the great work!

I’ve been to LKN Regional both before and after Duke took over. Experienced the ER, two inpatient stays, a few surgical procedures (all unrelated). 5 separate experiences. In each, I’ve felt genuinely cared for, never rushed, and outcomes were consistently positive without complications. The physicians were thorough in their explanations, the nursing staff was accommodating, the nutrition/cafeteria staff was professional, and the food pretty decent. I would have no hesitation in having my family seen here.
