Schooners Monterey

Schooners exceeded every expectation and was the perfect place to celebrate our anniversary. The oceanfront setting is absolutely stunning, and every dish was as beautiful as it was delicious. The seafood tower was incredibly fresh, the grilled octopus was tender and packed with flavor, the scallops were perfectly cooked, and the mussels in the coconut curry broth were impossible to stop eating. Even the warm focaccia was outstanding. To top it all off, the staff surprised us with a thoughtful anniversary dessert that made the evening even more special. Between the exceptional food, attentive service, and breathtaking views, Schooners delivered a truly memorable dining experience. We can't wait to return. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Came here on a Saturday night for a date because we wanted a nice seafood dinner with an ocean view. We made a reservation the day before and got a table outside on the pier right by the water during sunset. We started with the half dozen oysters and the coastal clam chowder bread bowl. The oysters were some of the freshest I’ve had and tasted really clean. The clam chowder was New England style without bacon, which I liked, and it was buttery with plenty of clams. The bread bowl had a nice crunch and paired really well with the soup. I got the grilled chicken piccata for my main. The chicken was too dry, but the piccata sauce was really good. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and both were flavorful and cooked well. I also got the China Cove Mai Tai. It was nice and strong. For dessert we got a chocolate cake with ice cream. The cake itself tasted good, but the ice cream was flat, not very flavorful, and too crumbly. The view from the pier during sunset was hard to beat, and the staff was really kind, took pictures for us, and let us stay well past closing without making us feel rushed.

I treated myself to dinner here to carb load before the Big Sur marathon and omg, it was everything and more. Service was amazing. I was seated quickly indoors with an ocean view. Waiter came by promptly with a menu and water. I got a drink to treat myself and ordered the gnocchi and burrata. Then treated myself to their cheesecake with coffee and it was just superb. I would absolutely recommend this place for a fancy fine dining experience.

This is a beautiful restaurant right next to the water. They also have heaters so you don’t get cold while dining next to water. We ordered halibut fish, chicken, buttered pasta and seafood platter and they were all very delicious. Our waitress was Rebekah and she was very nice. And there was a sea otter very close by in the water, it was fun to watch that while eating.

The Monterey Seafood Omelet was beautifully executed and came generously packed with sweet, fresh crab and shrimp, while the Two-Egg Breakfast was exactly the kind of comforting staple you look for in the morning, right down to the incredibly fresh sourdough toast. Snagging a table right by the water on the outdoor patio offered an unmatched, scenic ambiance that instantly elevates the meal. The hospitality was excellent—highly attentive and perfectly paced, especially given that we had the outdoor deck entirely to ourselves. This spot is perfect for travelers or locals looking for a premium coastal breakfast with a view, and we will absolutely be back.

My partner and friends had breakfast here and it was amazing! The service is fast and the waiters are very friendly. We didn't know what to order and they gave us great recommendations. The view is incredible, the food is delicious, and the coffee is wonderful. I definitely recommend it. My partner and I created a magical moment that will last forever. Enjoy your meal! 🛎

The food was good, but kind of pricey. I probably just didn't realize how nice of a place it was before booking. That being said, the views were incredible with waves crashing nearby. There was even a surfer! The food was very good - we loved the clam chowder bread bowl and the wagyu burger. Both were prepared very well. We could have easily spent double if we had ordered anything else. The hotel itself was very nice and the valet parking validation was very convenient.

We had a lovely time celebrating a birthday. Though we did not have a reservation for a party of nine, they were kind and patient with us and the wait was not too bad (35 minutes). Dean was our waiter and he was attentive.
