Not a typical Jesuit parish ... Was hopeful when visiting Miami and Sunday Mass was interesting.

Gesù is the oldest Catholic Church in all of South Florida, founded in April of 1896. Gesu is in the heart of Downtown with beautiful architecture and stained-glass windows.

The readings and prayers switch between English and Spanish in a way that actually works — nothing feels forced or repeated just for the sake of it, you just follow along in whichever language speaks to you. Honestly didn’t know that kind of seamless bilingual liturgy existed until today. The building itself is stunning. Didn’t realize until afterward that it’s the oldest Catholic parish in Miami (1896, current church from the 1920s). The stained glass windows and the vaulted ceiling are worth showing up early for. Quiet, unhurried atmosphere despite being right in the middle of downtown.

Iglesia Católica, la más antigua en el sur de la Florida, un lugar para orar, donde estaras en paz, realmente tranquilo y hermoso, cuenta con parqueadero contiguo, ademas de estar en el downtown, y muy cerca del metromove first street station; misas en español, ingles, haitiano; la liturgia es muy amena y clara; sus vitrales representan pasos de la vida de Jesus, son hermosos los cuales fueron traidos desde Alemania.

GESÙ established in 1896 (the same founding year as the City of Miami itself ) is the first Jesuit Catholic Church ⛪️ in Miami. The land upon which the church stands, was donated to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese by Henry Flagler, an entrepreneur industrialist who settled here and built the railroad from Saint Augustine to Key West. A Catholic School once stood by the rectory. Today the school no longer exists and has, unfortunately been replaced by a parking lot.

Es la iglesia más antigua de Miami, de aquí surgieron las siguientes iglesias católicas de la ciudad, tienen horarios en inglés y español, en pleno corazón de Downtown, realizan un ritual muy bonito que vale la pena apreciar, hay un parqueadero justo atrás, además la estación de trenes y autobuses de Government Center está a pocas calles, también tienes la estación de Metromover super cerca, es una Iglesia muy bonita, digna de conocer
