Potter Park Zoo

💖Small but full of charm 🐾 Highly recommended! 🥰 It’s not a huge zoo, but it’s very well organized and enjoyable. The animals looked well cared for, and the atmosphere was calm and family-friendly. We had a great time and would definitely visit again! 🦁🐒🦜

It is a nice clean zoo that is on the smaller side. So it is easy to go through at a slow pace to not feel like you have to rush through to see everything by end of day. You can do it all in just a morning and then play at the playground for some extra fun. Lots of photo ops and places to sit and interactive spots. Worth a stop.

I've only added a few pictures of the birds- my child likes birds a lot. We went on a class field trip. I am sad that we didn't get to see at least half of the things, but that's not the fault of the zoo. It seemed clean in there and we definitely had plenty of room to roam with many classes being there on their field trips and I have major social anxiety. The garbage was kind of stinky in places at times, but there were many classes there and it wasn't that big of a deal. I am speaking from the perspective of a person who went when there were at least 10 school buses of kids there. A problem that I have is that most of the enclosures aren't big enough. Those monkeys need to go elsewhere or something; that enclosure especially seemed too small from my perspective. Some person made monkey sounds at them and one monkey got on the other's back, made a whining type of noise and then they both went in the corner and ate a snack. That seems like something depressed humans would do if people were staring at them. I did not like it. 😐 I don't think humans should be allowed to heckle the animals and should be gentle with them. I mean that's not the park's fault either, but their enclosure is still too small. Intelligent animals shouldn't have such small enclosures. While lions and tigers are larger, the intelligence levels of those spider monkeys require them to have bigger enclosures. The food is also overpriced and vending machines were out of order. They could also use more bathrooms, we had a line albeit short, but the bathroom was clean. Oh but the picnic tables out there were gross. I'm not sure if it was just all of the classes before us and they're usually maintained, but eww. (Also the lady talking about her car being unlocked was being ridiculous... You can leave your car unlocked. It isn't a miracle. It is completely safe. No one can just walk in there and no one is going around the parking lot checking car doors to see if they're unlocked, trying to break into them. You have to pay for parking.)

I have loved coming here since a child. They have great programs and do education modules with the schools. The sensory bags are super helpful for my kids. My issue is the playground that several kids have tripped on, the closed exhibits without warning and the lack of zookeeper informational moments. It is always clean when I come and the animals look healthy. There is a very large historic presence at this zoo, as well.

A smaller, clean and well kept zoo for families of all ages. The animals are easy to see, clean encampments and the area grounds are wellaintained. The zoo is beautiful and the walkways are paved. The staff are friendly and will answer any questions you may have. I will be returning.

We had a wonderful time. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable. The animals were very active. So it made for a great trip.

I’m truly sad. I didn’t get to see the tiger because he passed away but we had a lot of fun at the zoo. It’s small and quaint, but it has a lot to do and it’s very beautiful here.

We visited during the off season (Mid Feb), so obviously not all animals are visible. However it was an enjoyable stroll with almost no one else there. We spent time watching the Owls, Artic Foxes and Llamas. The reptile house and big cat indoor area were interesting. It was very peaceful and made us excited to come back in spring!
