Getting baptized at Flatirons last Easter was one of the most powerful and meaningful moments of my life. It is something I will never forget. I especially appreciate the different teaching styles of Jim Burgen, Jesse DeYoung, and Ben Foote. Each of them brings something unique. Jim has a gift for taking big spiritual ideas and making them clear, honest, and practical. Jesse brings a leadership and discipleship perspective that challenges you to grow and take your faith seriously. Ben’s teaching is relatable and down to earth in a way that makes scripture feel incredibly relevant to everyday life. Hearing different voices and perspectives keeps the teaching engaging and impactful week after week. What I love most is that Flatirons doesn’t shy away from real life. The messages are thoughtful, scripture centered, and practical without feeling disconnected from the world people are actually living in. Beyond weekend services, I have participated in Women’s Connect and attended multiple conferences through the church. Through those experiences I have met some incredible women who I am still close friends with today. That is one of the most special things about Flatirons. It is not just a place you attend. It is a place where you can truly find community and your people. It is also a place where you can show up wherever you are in your faith journey. Whether you have been in church your whole life or you are just starting to ask deeper questions, it feels welcoming and authentic. For anyone in Colorado looking for a church that teaches the Bible in a way that is both challenging and approachable, Flatirons is something special.

So, I am a bit conflicted. In general, I do know that the most important thing is having God in your life, so we all have choices to get there, and there really is something for everyone to get there. Maybe Flatiorns is that place for you, and that is all that matters. However, lately in exploring church options, I am a bit put off by the topic of "porn" coming up so frequently. Maybe it's just luck of the draw from when I attended or tuned in to the live Broadcast. But it's off-putting in what I am looking for in my Sundays. I understand it is a social issue for some that needs to be addressed, but I don't want to talk or hear about it in my church service. Maybe in small bible study situations or people reaching out for guidance would be more appropriate. I'm not sure if there is a recommended age for attending the service itself, as that does not apply to me, but I would not enjoy sitting with a 9 year old and having these topics come up, as well as the sex trafficking outreach. Yes, it is a reality, but not what I am looking for in my Sunday church. The service itself comes across from more of a "motivational speaker" perspective with loose biblical reference, which again, is fine for some, but I guess it just made me realize I want something a bit more traditional that allows me to connect with spirit and serve as more of a respite from the real world. Real world applications of these topics could be addressed in a more intimate setting as not everyone can relate or wants to hear it mentioned in their Sunday service. The Mother's Day service I found more depressing than uplifting, which was a letdown for sure. The service concluded with more talk of sex trafficking and raising funds for their sex trafficing outreach ministry "Be Free" and to expand to have more campuses. It just kind of negated any positive feelings you could have found from being there. I gave this church several opportunities to see if it was a fit for me, and it is not.
Even though it’s a large church with many people, I still feel seen. People are friendly and will tell you hi but aren’t overbearing. I love how this church teaches about the Bible, because it’s about Jesus Christ and his teachings. If you’re debating whether to go or not, maybe you’ve messed up way too many times, etc…go anyway. Courage does not come before you do the scary thing, it’s what you get after. God bless you.
So many reasons but my daughter and I walked out, it felt more like a sales pitch, give us all your money than it did anything else. No church should ever say “our bank account is good…” while asking for 100m over the next 2 year. The entire 45 minutes, we sat there until we left was about giving money to the church. I was really sad as my daughter has come to previous sermons with other pastors and she enjoyed them, but this one really showed the root of the community and I left with my heart feeling more pained than free. While I understand the interpretations of the Bible can often be different depending on the person I did not care for the use of Bible phrases, and trying to almost guilt me into giving of anything I have even if I were to have almost nothing. To be fair, I cannot say anything about any of the other sermons as this was my first time at this church, but from this experience, I will not be returning, and my daughter will not no longer be attending. We have found ourselves fulfilled at a different house of the Lord and will continue our journey there. I have no ill towards anybody there, including those that work, volunteer and give of their time there it is just not an alignment with our hearts. As a sidenote, I am in agreement that if you are able and willing and your heart, so calls you to it, you should be giving but for me giving is not just to the church, but it’s giving your time to those that may need it. It’s giving money to a family whose benefits are currently not being paid. It’s helping a single mom watch her child when she needs. It comes in all forms not just monetary.
We love our church! 💝 We have attended and served at Flatirons Lafayette campus for years now. The mission is to make heaven crowded. Come as you are.. Bump into Jesus and find a church family and love and acceptance. The children's program is sensational. My favorite part is probably the worship music 🎶 🙌🏼. Pastor Jim and the staff keep the experience of learning about and bumping into Jesus relevant and engaging. Come see for yourself!
This church feels more like a business than a house of the lord. Came a few times back in 2019 and it ultimately made me quit religion for three years because of the way things are ran here until I got infected with a waterborne virus from key west Florida and I turned back to god felt I was reborn after that. Anyways the reason I feel like this church is run like a business is because of having multiple locations and being more of a “rock concert”. I don’t appreciate the excessively loud music and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t mind and enjoys the noise of a jet engine or airplane propeller. I also don’t like the absence of stained glass windows and the lack of natural lighting in the main area. When I go to church I want to feel like I’m close to the lord and black walls and no natural lighting doesn’t do that for me. I also don’t like how church is inside an old Walmart which goes back to my point about its lack of holiness. The traffic from this church has caused me to almost be late to work a few times since I work at the sprouts down the street as of writing this. And don’t even get me started on the people that come here they seem very snobby and rude. While on that topic I don’t think you should be showing up to church in casual clothes because I know if did this at the church I go to it would be frowned upon. Not to mention mega churches like this seem to care about lining their pockets then actually helping the communities that they claim to serve. If you want to worship god go to a small local church you’ll have a much better experience.
A great unfiltered men's conference. If you are lost and looking for a group to help you get closer with god, would highly recommend. They help fight child trafficking. They help guide their lost men. They do not shy away from the tough topics. The community makes huge moves to guard abd take care of their flock. It is real folks.
This is my home church. Love that it is so welcoming. The worship music is the best in the state, they preach directly from the Bible, and Pastor Jim is authentic and relatable.
