We LOVE Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park! We always rent scooters when we stay in Key West and it's so easy to ride through. They have plenty of designated scooter parking areas. This year (2026) we paid $9 total for both my husband and I to get in on our scooters. Once you pay, you can come and go a many times as you like for that ONE day. Keep your receipt. Once you drive back and park, it's a very short walk through beautiful pine trees to the turquoise water. They have plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout the trees to just sit and enjoy your surroundings. They even have some tables sitting in the secluded little nooks where nobody else is around you. One the Gulf side of the park, you can sit on benches looking out and watching fisherman leisurely work their way down the coast toward Mallory Square. If you are a into birding, they have many beautiful birds on the water and in the trees. Bathrooms on site along with a concession building. The beach area has rentals for chairs and umbrellas. Please note that the beach is not sand. It's a lot of crushed up shell and coral. It is still unbelievably beautiful.
Wunderschöner Park mit Fort das es zu entdecken gibt. Wir waren da um den Sonnenuntergang anzuschauen, was absolut empfehlenswert ist. Am nächsten sind wir nochmal hingefahren um zu Baden. Der Strand ist von der Größe her ok, direkt angrenzenden gibt es einen kleinen Wald Bereich mit Sitzbänken/Tischen um zu Picknicken und Schatten zu suchen.
Strand ist gepflegt und man kann schön baden gehen.
Der Park kostet normalerweise Eintritt, ist aber zu gewissen Feiertagen frei (in unserem Fall waren wir am Memorial Wochenende da und mussten nichts zahlen).
Park hat bis nach Sonnenuntergang auf, sobald die Sonne untergegangen ist wir man von den Park Rangern freundlich zum gehen aufgefordert.
Wer in KeyWest ist, der sollte dieses Highlight nicht verpassen.
Here you can find an incredibly beautiful beach with picnic tables in the shade and bbq zones. Mid-may there was a lot of seaweed in the water and on the sand, however when you move further it gets better. The water is also super warm!
Importantly this beach is NOT child-friendly, the water becomes deep really fast and there are no lifeguards there.
Some people snorkel here, so maybe there is something interesting underwater.
I'd recommend you bring your own food because the only cafe on the territory is overpriced and food there is mid.
Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is a fantastic destination with affordable pricing and ample parking. The beach is beautiful, but it’s advisable to be a decent swimmer if you plan to swim. Parking is convenient, even during peak hours. Onsite amenities include restrooms and a café that offers a variety of food and drinks, though prices are slightly higher due to its exclusivity on the beach. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drinks, and cooking is possible on the provided grills if available. Remember to bring plastic cups, as per state park policy. However, the park could benefit from more trash cans and recyclable bins, as they are currently spaced far apart.
