Duke's Huntington Beach

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a Dukes. The last one was in Hawaii on Maggie. It Pain me to give four stars but the server DW, initials Turned out to be not very friendly after asking for straws. Not once not twice not three times. But four times. She finally brought the straws wrapped in napkin and laid him down with a smirk. Actually, she didn’t really lay, and now she kinda threw them down with a smirk, when I asked for a replacement water. I got Luke warm to warm water, which was inconsistent with the nice chill ice water. Everybody received. I asked DW about. Is it Customer to give warm water and I was told oh G. I must’ve made a mistake with a smirk, so she did it on purpose, vindictive because she must be a straw and so the Food was excellent. The atmosphere was excellent. The which salad was very good just as you would expected to be the appetizers that we had or excellent. The macadamia, hummus with the chips and vegetables to dip was very good. The calamari was very good and the fish chowder was very good. The ribs were absolutely perfect. And you wouldn’t think Hawaii for ribs. But hey here we are. The ribs are Great. The fish was cooked perfectly, and we enjoyed the immensely. we had reservations and we’re able to go right to our table with no waiting whatsoever. The parking with the ballet was super nice that don’t charge it but we tipped anyway, so that was great. Kudos to them on that one.

It wasn't easy making the one-hour round trip drive, but spending time with an old golf friend made the visit much more meaningful. This is the friend who first taught me what travel really means. Looking back, it's funny to realize that I now travel even more than he does. Duke's is named after the legendary surfer Duke Kahanamoku, and the restaurant reflects that relaxed beach culture. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the fish chowder was absolutely delicious. Some of the other dishes were a bit salty for my taste, but the oceanfront setting, good conversation, and memories shared with an old friend made this a very enjoyable experience. 🧭 HELLO VOYAGER

A beautiful spot, but high expectations led to a few missed marks. Coming from amazing experiences at Duke’s in Hawaii—where we visited twice in one trip specifically for the breakfast buffet—our expectations were set quite high. Unfortunately, we were disappointed to find that the Huntington Beach location doesn't offer the buffet. While that’s on us for not researching ahead of time, it definitely set a different tone for the meal. The meal was a bit of a mixed bag for our family. My breakfast burrito was actually delicious, though a bit smaller than what I’m used to. My husband’s BBQ ribs and chicken looked good, but the portions were small. Our teens were the most disappointed; my 16-year-old didn't like the flavor or seasoning of her burger (plus the cheese wasn't really melted), and my 14-year-old was hoping for more than just a couple pieces of fruit with her pancakes. You truly cannot beat the atmosphere, though. The high ceilings, airy feel, and incredible ocean breeze make it a stunning place to sit. The convenience of the parking also makes it an easy choice for a Huntington Beach day. I would go back about once a year really just for the location. Maybe the next time will be better when our taste buds are not set in buffet mode!

My son and daughter-in-law invited my to Dukes to celebrate my birthday. Parking was a breeze into their paid lot and close proximity to the restaurant. The exterior has some tropical plants and the grass shaded benches and palm trees reminded me of Hawaii. The inside is beautifully decorated continuing with the tropical theme and surfing. Bamboo, Flora, surfboards displaying the interior with some classic pictures of the restaurant's namesake. We were quickly seating near corner windows upfront with a beautiful view if the surf and pier. Waves were crashing, kites streaming the sky and people walking along the pier enjoying the spring California weather. Magnificent. After perusing the menu, I decided to try the chicken and ribs plate so that I could try a combination of their items. The server was very nice and attentive and took our orders quickly. The dishes arrived at the table and the food smelled and tasted delicious. The ribs were tender and slathered with a tasty sauce. The chicken was served up on skewers and were moist and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the island style macaroni. Great views, excellent service, excellent food....winner!

This restaurant is for lovers of Hawaiian cuisine — unfortunately, that’s not me. The food felt quite unusual to me, as I’m not familiar with Hawaiian cuisine. Salads with sweet sauces, cold pasta in salads — everything seemed strange to me. And, to be honest, not tasty. Overall, I didn’t enjoy any of the food. So if you’re not sure that you like Hawaiian cuisine, it’s probably better not to come here. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere is wonderful — a very beautiful restaurant with a stunning view of the ocean and the pier. The staff are very polite and attentive. Overall, it’s a great place for fans of Hawaiian cuisine.

Online Reservations was easy. They have a dedicated valet spot which was convenient. We had to wait 15 minutes in spite of reserved slot. Restaurant has good views of the HB Pier and the ocean depending on where you get seated. Extensive seafood options in the menu. This was my 2nd visit and we love the seafood menu options here. This time we tried their tacos (both grilled and fried) - they were v good. Their Mai Tai is great ! Poke Tacos also were very good ! The "Big Prime STeak -while it lasts" (yeah thats whats its called on the menu) was OK. I wouldn't get it next time. What was disappointing was their COKE and Fountain Drinks. Completely out of Fizz ! , servers would not refill your drinks on time and you have to constantly try hard to get their attention and hope they look at you. If not for this Soda Issue and inconsistent service, I would have given this a solid 4 stars !

We came here for my girlfriend’s birthday lunch because she’s always wanted to visit Duke’s. The funny thing is, she doesn’t even like seafood—she just loves the ocean and wanted that iconic view! We made reservations for a Monday lunch; while it might not have been strictly necessary, I’m glad we did. They had a birthday card waiting for her at the table, which was a really thoughtful touch. Our server was fantastic—very energetic, knowledgeable, and helped guide me through a few different menu options I was considering. For the food: • Mango Burger: My girlfriend ordered this and absolutely loved it. She usually brings home a doggy bag, but she devoured the whole thing, so it must have been outstanding! • Roasted Wahoo: I had the Wahoo with macaroni and macadamia nut slaw. Honestly, it was one of the best fish meals I’ve ever had. I could eat that every single day. • The Hula Pie: They also gave us a complimentary Hula Pie for her birthday. It was huge! It could have easily fed four people. It was the perfect ending to a great meal. Great service, incredible food, and you can't beat the atmosphere. We’ll definitely be back!

Great food, excellent service and amazing views. The prime rib and filter mignon were both tender and tasty; The calamari tentacles were meaty and delicious, and the complementary birthday cake was delicious. The servers were the best I've experienced in a long time and made our experience so much better. A special shout out to both RJ and Rico for making our evening. And to top it all off, the sunset view was an amazing experience. Definitely the place for a special evening, and even for when you just feel like a treating yourself.
