I visited this place yesterday on Dasara week. The place is so nice and beautiful with lots of god idols with calm environment and lot of activities happening. In the basement they had even arranged garbha dance which I really enjoyed with my friends. I would recommend visiting this place to get out of city and enjoy some time in spiritual activities, but I found hard time finding parking, may be due to festival.

The Hanuman Mandir of Greater Chicago, located in the quiet suburb of Glenview, is more than just a place of worship—it is a massive, white-marble feat of engineering and devotion. Since its grand opening in 2016, it has become a cornerstone for the North Shore’s Indian community and a fascinating stop for anyone interested in sacred architecture. Whether you're there for a quiet moment of meditation or to marvel at the scale of the craftsmanship, here is a breakdown of what makes this temple so special. The Centerpiece: The Monolithic Hanumanji The heart of the temple is the breathtaking 23.5-foot-tall statue of Lord Hanuman. Carved from a single, massive block of Makrana marble (the same stone used for the Taj Mahal), this 23-ton statue is a "monolith" in the truest sense. What makes it unique is its dual-sided design. Often described as "two bodies, one soul," the statue is carved with identical precision on both the front and back. This ensures that the deity's presence greets you the moment you pull into the parking lot and remains with you as you enter the main sanctuary. It is a powerful symbol of strength, protection, and unwavering devotion. Innovation Meets Tradition: The Drive-Thru Darshan In a move that is peak "Chicago meets Ancient India," this mandir is credited with being the first in the world to offer drive-thru darshan. For those with mobility issues, time constraints, or during the height of the Midwest winters, you can drive through a designated lane that brings you directly in front of a massive glass window facing the deity. You can offer a prayer and receive blessings without even unbuckling your seatbelt. It’s a clever, modern adaptation of Sanatana Dharma that respects the fast-paced lives of the diaspora while maintaining spiritual sanctity. Interior Atmosphere & Architecture The 39,000-square-foot structure is split into two main levels: • The Upper Floor: This is the main sanctuary. It is bright, airy, and clad in pristine white marble that reflects the light from the large glass dome above. The vibe here is exceptionally peaceful, even when it's busy. • The Lower Floor: This serves as the Spiritual and Community Center. It’s a hive of activity where the "living" part of the temple happens—cultural programs, language classes, and communal meals. The architecture itself is a blend of traditional Hindu Shikhara (spires) and modern glass elements, making it feel both timeless and contemporary. A Vibrant Cultural Hub This isn't a "museum" temple where you just look at statues; it is a community heartbeat. • Education: Their Sunday School is legendary in the area, teaching children everything from Hindi and Sanskrit to the stories of the Ramayana and Mahabharata. • Festivals: If you visit during Hanuman Jayanti, Diwali, or Holi, be prepared for a crowd. The energy is electric, with traditional music (Bhajans), dancing, and incredible vegetarian food. • The Volunteers: One of the most common praises in reviews is the warmth of the volunteers. They are remarkably welcoming to newcomers and happy to explain the rituals or the significance of the various deities housed alongside Hanumanji, including Ram-Sita, Radha-Krishna, and Lord Shiva. Visitor Essentials • Location: 3623 W Lake Ave, Glenview, IL 60026. • Hours: Generally open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. • Etiquette: As with all Hindu temples, remember to remove your shoes before entering the main sanctuary and dress modestly. Whether you're a devotee or just a local looking for a bit of suburban Zen, the Hanuman Mandir is a must-visit. The sheer scale of the marble work alone is worth the trip, but it’s the sense of peace and community that will likely make you want to stay.

Very nicely maintained. Peaceful and it is always a good vibe to be there. I was happy to see chairs were placed, so I could sit and meditate for a bit.

While there are several management challenges currently facing the temple, the most critical issue affecting devotees is the loud music inside the mandir. The current loudspeaker system creates a massive echo that disrupts the entire atmosphere. A temple should be a sanctuary for peace, prayer, and meditation, but the overwhelming noise makes it difficult to stay inside. I urge the Management Committee to address this by turning off the loudspeakers and allowing softer or acoustic bhajans. This simple change will bring back the quiet, serene environment needed for sadhana.

Genuinely divine and full of positive energy, I always feel blessed and grateful when I visit the temple and get the blessing of our beloved Hanumanji. Very dedicated volunteers who are always smiling and welcoming and worked hard to make every event grand and joyous. The temple celebrates all major Hindu festivals; the Sundarkand on Tuesday and Saturday is mesmerizing and fills me with energy. It is definitely a place to visit and get a blessing from Hanumanj; he is himself present in the temple, and you can feel his presence.

Divine Experience at the Hanuman Temple in Greater Chicago For the past four to five months, my wife and I have had the privilege of visiting beautiful Hanuman Temple of Greater Chicago located in Glenview, IL regularly, and every visit has been nothing short of a spiritually uplifting experience. From the moment we step inside, we are enveloped by an overwhelming sense of peace, positivity, and devotion. The temple is meticulously maintained, radiating cleanliness and a serene ambiance that instantly instills a feeling of divine connection. One of the standout aspects of this temple is the dedicated Hanuman Sevaks and Volunteers, who are always available to guide devotees with prayers, rituals, and spiritual advice. Their warmth, humility, and devotion truly enhance the temple experience, making every visitor feel welcomed and blessed. Their dedication in organizing and conducting pujas, bhajans, and Hanuman Chalisa recitations creates an atmosphere of deep devotion and bhakti. The temple is not just a place of worship but also a hub of cultural and social engagement. Throughout the year, it hosts various festivals like Mahashivratri, Holi, Hanuman Jayanti, Ram Navmi ,other cultural programs, and spiritual discourses, keeping the community connected to its rich traditions. The temple also takes the initiative to organize educational programs for children, imparting values of Hindu culture, spirituality, and scriptures, ensuring that younger generations stay rooted in their heritage. Another highlight of our visits is the prasad (food offerings) provided at the temple. The prasad is always delicious, sattvic, and served with love, making it a blissful experience to partake in after prayers. The temple also conducts social service activities and volunteer programs, giving devotees an opportunity to contribute and engage in selfless service (seva). I have personally been involved in some of these volunteering activities, and it has been a deeply fulfilling experience. Beyond all the cultural, spiritual, and social aspects, what truly makes this temple special for us is the divine presence of Pavanputra, Rudra Avatar , Ram Bhakta Hanumanji. Every time we visit, we feel His blessings and protection surrounding us, filling our hearts with faith, strength, and gratitude. For anyone looking for a place of worship, peace, and community, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting this Hanuman Temple. Whether you come to pray, volunteer, or simply soak in the divine vibrations, this temple offers an experience that is truly transformative and spiritually enriching. Jay Shri Ram! Jay Hanuman! 🙏
