This was my first visit to Moody Gardens attraction in Galvenston Tx. I did not visit the aquarium or rainforest pyramids due to the outragesous pricing, but did get to experience the discovery pyramid and was grateful for the discount pricing for grades on report cards, unfortunately I wish I hadn't. The way the discovery pyramid is described online is made to sound like a stem/steam type childrens museum, on the regular, but it is not. I found out that the discovery museum only host exhibits and whatever exhibit is being featured, is all that is in the pyramid. I did visit on Friday, when schools were visiting for field trips, which was fine, until a group of high school aged kids cut our trip short.

Visitor notes
This pyramid was a complete waste of money. First, it is not very interactive. We went during the "skeleton" display. The only interactive pieces was a toy food store (for basically toddlers), a yoga picture (for little kids to do yoga on their own) and ballet bar behind the yoga "area" which was basically two little mats. You can walk the room in 5 minutes and see everything on display. It is mostly set up for kids 5 and younger but not marketed as such. It is on the second floor and about the size of a hotel suite. The lady taking the tickets was not friendly, as if she knew she was taking people's money and they'd be surprised at the lack of "entertainment". Extremely disappointed. Save your money and go to the rainforest pyramid! If I could give zero stars I would.
Definitely not worth the money use the money at a different attraction or find something else to do. The price doesn’t match the attraction the 2nd floor where everything starts is boring then you sit and wait for a show time for the things that start on floor 1 my 7 year old was disappointed and had 3 older kids 12-16 and they wanted to go the first 2 minutes the other attractions offered are pricy but would have rather spent my money elsewhere also need to offer sanitizer for the kids/families.
Not as much stuff to do or see as the Rainforest pyramid or the Aquarium pyramid. There is a very small shark exhibit upstairs and a 4D theater downstairs. I wouldn’t pay for this on its own. The 4D movie will be great for kids.
Cool place for kids! Lots of fun stuff to do. COVID protocols in place but masks are "strongly encouraged" so, no one had them on. If you're nervous about that, don't go there. Otherwise, it was business as usual with all the attractions open.
We've been here before, so I knew where to park but the GPS did NOT know and kept telling us to drive around to the back for some reason. Staff is incredibly helpful and available to answer questions. We arrived at 11 AM on a wed so no crowds. The body exhibit was cool but brief. Well worth it if you're into science, but I almost wish they had someone with a medical background and a laser pointer available to answer questions. my 3 year old found the interactive body screen incredibly amusing though it wasnt designed for kids it was hilarious watching her mess with it. Visited the gift shop and wish they had more anatomy merch -were weird like that, but bought everything they did have anyway. Guys - give us MORE enamel pins of cut up anatomy please, also puzzles dissectable plushies etc. Theres a market for it, I promise! Afterwards we hit up the food court and souviner shop by the rainforest which had a stellar collection of graphic tees.
I was really disappointed with my experience at the Discovery Pyramid at Moody Gardens. The information provided about the attraction was misleading, which led to a lot of confusion when we arrived. When we tried to ask for clarification, the manager (Jaqueline ) we spoke with was extremely rude and dismissive instead of trying to help resolve the issue. The manager then continued to raise her voice and basically told us we were “stupid” Customer service makes a huge difference in situations like this, and unfortunately this experience left a bad impression. I hope Moody Gardens works on providing clearer information to guests and better training for management on how to handle customer concerns professionally. We drove a long way to get here with our kids & we’re very disappointed I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!
This pyramid is not as big as the other two (aquarium and rainforest) and is more science-focused when I visited. Their exhibition changes often and I visited the body works RX exhibition where authentic human anatomical specimens were displayed, giving us unique opportunities to learn about the human anatomy and physiology.
