As a newly Baptized Catholic this year, this was a great place to go to. Blessed Solanus Casey devoted his life to the Capuchin order of Friars and as such, he made a great impact on the community in Detroit Michigan. My parish had an Event on April 28th, to take a Pilgrimage out to the Center, we first started our visit by attending mass held our Parish Priest: Father Mattson, then after mass we went into the museum that gave details and biographical information on Solanus Casey's life story. Next, there was the Gift store and cafeteria area which had plenty, in fact, the cafeteria was established during the great depression in the 1930s in a way to help the poor people in Detroit suffering at that time. As a native Michigander, I feel proud that Blessed Solanus Casey was a priest representing our state, and having done so in a way that positively impacted so many lives in the Detroit community, and there were people from my Parish: Resurrection Church of Lansing who had connections to him. It was a unique spiritual experience and an overall great educational experience.

A deeply spiritual place. Bonaventure Monastery has been part of the landscape of Detroit since 1883. The history and story of this place can easily be researched online, as so much is to be told. No admission. Free parking in an attached lot. There is a bakery and gift shop on the property.

Blessed Solanus Casey is on his way to Sainthood. When this happen he is the first American male Saint. Great place to visit and pray. We are blessed to be able to be at the place when there's blessing of the sick. So go and check this place out. It is worth it. Be careful 9f the outside surroundings though and be very picky of your hotel choice.

A wonderful tribute to an incredible 'hometown' saint. Thoughtfully planned, well executed, easy to navigate and a very clean space. His crypt is a place of Holy reverence with kneelers and a place for prayer requests, just outside the beautiful church that's attached to the center. The center also includes a cafe with a small gift shop where you can get coffee and snacks or purchase spiritual inspiration. So glad we got to experience this Holy Place.

Wonderful destination. Lots of information about Fr. Solanus. It won’t take long to go through the displays, but you will want to have some time set aside to spend in the chapel. Very quiet and contemplative. The gift shop is quite nice. There are, as you can imagine, some out of the ordinary items, but there are many, many things that are quite nice. It is very definitely worth the trip. Parking on site is relatively easy. There is a small grotto like area in the front of the building, facing Mt. Elliott. It is a bit less restful and contemplative since Mt. Elliott does have a fair amount of traffic. That said, it is still nice to stroll through and sit for a moment just to take in the surroundings. Figure on spending about an hour or two.
