A spectacular museum with a friendly staff and meaningful exhibits. Give yourself at least 3 hours (they recommend budgeting two) to walk through. I took 4 hours to walk through. Admission price was reasonable, and street parking is free on Sundays. Their store is next level for a museum. I thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon here!

Visitor notes
The museum experience felt so real, I cried 😭 I thought I could hold myself, but I couldn't. It was a great experience overall. I learnt so much. This museum holds so much history that everyone needs to learn and experience. I also visited the gift shop. The stuff were helpful and kind. I got sma few things there. Whe I visit Detroit again, I will visit this place. It was amazing ☺️☺️ Also, I spotted my country's flag 😅
A jewel, delivering an amazing experience. African American historical, culturally curated artifact collections, middle passage, enslavement and freedom journey woven into decades of Detroit. The story of resilence and power has been captured in an unforgettable way. The Wright should be a must-see destination for the citizens and visitors alike.
Woooooow. Impresionante. Recomiendo muchísimo. Desde el lobby hasta cada exhibición es hermoso e intenso. No saldrán indiferentes.
Exhibits were very informative and honest. You will not find a sanitized version of history here. Staff were helpful, kind, and professional. The building was clean and well maintained. Looking forward to bringing my children again as they get older and can process everything. There are also some beautiful and meaningful art pieces here. Highly recommend that everyone visit, whether local or tourist, and that we all ensure that this museum is supported and maintained.
It’s an amazing place and museum. Very interesting and necessary for everyone to visit it and understand the history of the United States.
Great place for black history to know your roots to know where you come from, to know the historic black people who live their life and made it history for us to see and know is a great thing. I will definitely come back and bring my family as well.
This museum tells the factual history of African Americans. We spent 2-1/2 hours going through the "Still We Rise" exhibit with our 3 teenage grandsons. This sparked so much thought-provoking conversation. I highly recommend this museum.
