This museum is great and fantastic! Our toddler absolutely loves it! We can spend an hour or two just looking at train models and they also have a little play area. In certain seasons they also have some special train rides (Halloween, Christmas) where you can take a little train ride with activities for the whole family. There is a small shop that has a lot of train-themed gifts! The volunteers that run this museum are a gem and truly enjoy it!

Had an amazing time visiting The First Gift Express at the Danbury Railway Museum. My 3 year old was very excited through out the attraction and enjoyed playing with the other kids and meeting Santa. Hot chocolate and cookies were a complimentary treat. Tickets are inexpensive and it includes the museum portion as well. The staff did an amazing job!

You don’t have to be a train aficionado to enjoy this indoor/outdoor museum. Truly for all ages. Tour guide John was awesome: extremely knowledgeable and endearing. So interesting hearing every trains story. Open year round, but highly recommend you go April - September when you can board one of their trains for a ride.

We got there and as soon as you open the door, you feel like you got to see and smell everything from the cookies to the hot chocolate and best of all The Polar Express movie on the screen. The train ride was fun but for the small kiddos my 12 year old wasn't into it too much. But the best to come was on our way out where we got to see the man of the hour himself SANTA!!! who made me laugh by giving my hubby some coal for not being nice.

We had a really incredible experience at the railway museum. We had family visiting from out of town and had a very large party, they were super accommodating and kind. The staff definitely like their jobs, they were knowledge and fun to be around. 10/10 experience if you have any interest in local history and railway stuff.

One of the best railway museums in the area! Completely volunteer run, this museum is only open on the weekend, but features a museum on the inside of the station and a huge railyard with historical trains. You must ride the train, just a few dollars more and allows you to ride to the end of the yard, and travel around one of the oldest turntables in the country! This is an active station for Metronorth, Connecticut line, but the museum is in a different part of the yard. Everyone was super friendly. Gift shop was amazing and had so many unique items!! Alfred Hitchcock's movie, Strangers on a train, was also filmed at the museum!

A gem of a place, worth the 2 hour drive to see. Well priced and you can easily spend a couple hours there. Train ride included a ride on the turn table which was great fun. No cafe on site but think you get a discount for across the road with admission looking at the back of the receipt. Train rides are 3 dollars a head so very well priced and staff are fantastic. There's also a bunch of brio for kids to play with and loads of model trains on display
