This is a special place. It's a small family-owned grocer that also serves hot homemade food - it's an odd combination (at least in the US) but it does both of these things extremely well. Want great food at affordable prices? This is the place. Want to start cooking indian food yourself but don't know what to buy? They'll help you navigate the store, and they have literally everything you could possibly need at great prices. It's not a traditional restaurant, and it's not trying to be: it's good food from friendly people at affordable prices. You'll never find another place like it, it's my favorite place in Los Angeles. A bit more detail on the food: it's cafeteria style, you choose 2 or 3 entrees from a collection of maybe 8 or 10 options, along with a side of rice/pickle. The price is usually around $13 or $15 per person if my memory serves. The options all sample very different flavor profiles (some more savory/smoky, others sweet/acidic), all truly authentic and perfectly seasoned. Seating is mainly outdoor/sheltered and a bit worn down, but that ambiance is part of the charm in my opinion: good food does not need to be pretentious to be enjoyed. Come once for an experience you won't forget, and come twice because there's nothing else like it in town.

India Sweets & Spices is my tried-and-true. I make every attempt to come here at least twice a month if I can. I have been coming here consistently since I moved back to Los Angeles 8 years ago. The food is delicious, the owner is friendly, and the staff is great. I buy grocery items here as well. I buy my ghee, spices; hot pickle, paneer… I truly love it. I can usually get two meals out of a no.1 and I love their pakoras and other accompanying snacks. My boyfriend always gets a no. 2 and one of their sweets - he has tried them all! I love their chai and usually get a small to go. Yum! I’m already planning when I can get back there! Try it. It is a wonderful spot.

If you’re looking for a real Indian food spot, this is the one. The food is honestly so good — full of flavor and clearly made with care. The service is great too; everyone is very kind and welcoming. They also have a wide variety of packaged Indian products and pantry staples, which makes it even better. I highly recommend it

This place is a hidden gem. If you have not been here, you must try it. Authentic Indian food. Great quality, great taste Wonderful family owned business. Has been here in Culver City over 40 years.

The samosa is absolutely divineeeeee and the palak paneer was to die for. Prices were very reasonable and the staff will answer any questions you have. It’s located in a grocery store as well.

What makes this place truly special is that it’s both a restaurant and a grocery store, which is honestly the best combination you can ask for. The moment you walk in, you feel like you’ve stepped into India. The shelves are filled with everything you can imagine every kind of Indian spice (haldi, jeera, dhania, garam masala, chaat masala), all varieties of dals and lentils, rice like basmati and sona masoori, atta for rotis, ready-to-eat meals, and frozen Indian foods. They have an incredible selection of Indian snacks from namkeen, bhujia, chakli, to biscuits like Parle-G, Good Day, and Marie. You’ll also find a wide range of sweets and mithai that truly taste authentic. For tea lovers, they stock proper Indian tea powders and masala chai blends that give you that exact “ghar wali chai” feeling. The fresh produce section is amazing you’ll find Indian vegetables that are hard to get elsewhere like karela (bitter gourd), lauki (bottle gourd), tinda, okra (bhindi), drumsticks, curry leaves, green chilies, and fresh coriander. They also have dosa batter, paneer, ghee, pickles, papad, chutneys, sauces, and all the essentials you need for a complete Indian kitchen. Honestly, whatever you’re looking for chances are they already have it. On top of that, the restaurant section is fantastic. Fresh dosas, chaats, curries, sweets everything is prepared with authentic taste and care. It’s the kind of food that instantly makes you feel at home. What truly touched me was meeting Susan and her family, who run this beautiful place. They are incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional. You can see the love and dedication they have for what they do. They treat customers with warmth and respect, and that personal touch makes all the difference. It’s rare to find a place where the owners are so involved and genuinely care about your experience.❤️❤️❤️❤️ This is not just a store or a restaurant it’s a place that brings back memories, emotions, and the feeling of being connected to India, even when you’re far away. We ordered catering from here and every single thing we ordered was absolutely incredible! Everyone at the party was raving about how delicious the food was. The owner was so kind and helpful to work. He made us feel welcome immediately and I could see he wants to create an excellent customer experience for each person who walks into the store. And, the samosas and tikkis we got were clearly freshly made and so, so good. Highly recommend catering from this spot (or just stopping by for a samosa- it’s worth it!)

Avoid. As noted in other reviews they will scam you and price gouge constantly. I tested it out and They will charge you different prices for the same items across 2 days. Watch the register carefully as they ring you up, especially when buying sweets at the bakery section where they charge you by the pound. Quality of food isn’t good either and it doesn’t look or feel clean and they’re also just rude…I also bought an oud bottle from them and watched one man put a price in for another to come running over to change the price amount to be higher on the register.
