Tempo Cafe is an exceptional dining experience. Upon arrival, the patio area buzzed with people seated in French bistro chairs, reminiscent of a Parisian cafe. We were greeted warmly and provided with outstanding service. The food was delectable. I ordered a build your own scrambler with spinach, tomatoes, and mozzarella cheese and substituted the toast with strawberry pancakes, which turned out to be the perfect bland of sweet and savory. The prices are affordable, especially considering that the portions are quite generous. The menu extends beyond breakfast, offering several lunch options. I highly recommend this spot!
Overall, my experience at this restaurant was good. The food was delicious, the food runners were attentive, the restaurant was clean, and the hostesses were welcoming and friendly.
Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Reina A, was disappointing. She took a very long time to check on the table, seemed impatient, and came across as rude at certain moments. When it was time to pay, I clearly asked twice in Spanish to split the bill, but she responded rudely and said, “You was saying to your table, not to me,” and refused to split it.
I understand busy environments can be stressful, but I think better attitude and customer service — especially toward tourists — would make the experience much better.

★★★★★What can I say, clearly the food was amazing! Noelle controlling the “Tempo” like he’s Mourinho holding an aggregate lead at the Camp Nou. What a taste.
PANCAKES: They sat next to me for 20 minutes untouched, then I took a bite and felt the depths and softness of the clouds above. Fluffier than Kim K’s bunda.
SKILLET: WOW! Dare I say, better than EB. Never thought I’d see the day. A little too much cheese, but other than that amazing.
CORN BEEF HASH: Wasn’t mine but told it was good.

Absolutely phenomenal food. First time being in this part of Chicago, saw this online and truly truly did not disappoint. Some of the best breakfast food I have had in a long time. Omelette has phenomenal flavor and texture, and the chocolate chip pancakes are the best pancakes I’ve ever had in my life. Very fluffy and melts in your mouth. Noelle was very welcoming, and had great service. Great food for a great price
The service and food were exceptional from start to finish. Everything was prepared perfectly, and the overall experience exceeded my expectations. A special shout-out to Elia—she is truly one of the main reasons I will be coming back. She made me feel genuinely welcomed and at home, and her attention to detail and warmth made the entire experience memorable.
Tempo Café is a great breakfast spot in the city. I’ve always been able to walk in without a wait, the staff is friendly, and the breakfast is consistently good. My favorite is the Casablanca freshly squeezed juice with strawberry, cantaloupe, and orange juice. Highly recommend!
