St. Peter’s Catholic Church is a beautiful church right in the middle of downtown Chicago and it really stands out with its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, the church feels calm, welcoming, and full of character. The design and details inside are truly impressive and make it a wonderful place not only for prayer and reflection, but also for appreciating the beauty of the space itself. The people there were also very nice and welcoming, which made the visit even more meaningful. It is a lovely church to stop by whether you are visiting the area or just looking for a quiet and uplifting place in the city.

From out of town and needed a place to attend Sunday Mass The church Is beautiful, the Mass itself was good It is not very handicap accessible. I didn’t realize there was a lift until I left. I was able to ask someone for help getting my stroller inside. When I was leaving, one of the guys that worked there was so rude to me, I thought I had done something wrong. But I was just trying to find a way out. He was so aggressive in his tone and choice of words, I actually said to him “I’m sorry if I have done something to upset you” and he then he responded “i know this church better than you do and you’re bantering with me” Once I went upstairs, someone did help me with the lift. But he was also extremely rude, when I tried to go through the door, he said “I said I would open the door and you’re not listening to me” What he meant was that he needed to open both doors, not just one door, for us to fit out of it with the stroller. As a mother traveling alone, especially during the Christmas season, it really took the grace and happiness away from the Mass service I had just attended. I won’t remember the beauty or happiness of the service. I’ll remember how I was treated by people that work there. I’m sure it’s difficult to have strangers in the church where you work, but if you’re men of God, and can’t be Christ like to those around you, maybe don’t be a face of the church.

Several daily masses and frequent confessions, at a restful oasis in the middle of the loop. The Franciscans are wise and wonderful. The decorations are minimal but they do amazing things with swaths of cloth for various holy days (red for Jesus’ blood during Holy Week)!! ❤️‍🔥😇 The picture is from the octave of Easter.

As I walked into St. Michael Catholic Church, the first thing that struck me was the intricate details of the stained glass windows catching the afternoon light. The atmosphere felt peaceful, with soft music playing in the background, creating a calm space. During my visit, I appreciated how organized everything was; the staff provided clear information about the history of the church and its relics in the small museum area. They were attentive without being intrusive, checking in to see if I had any questions and offering insights about certain art pieces. The community vibe was evident; several groups were gathered discussing events and services. It felt like a welcoming place where newcomers could quickly feel at home. I also noticed that they offered silent adoration on Sundays, which adds another layer to their service opportunities. Overall, it seemed like a well-maintained venue rich in history and community engagement.

This church is very welcoming when I came for Friday morning mass. The granite altar is carved details of the holy family with detail yet simplistic in design. Several smaller side altars offer opportunity to give thanks, praise, or ask for guidance and to light candles. Beautiful stations of the cross and stained glass. The gift shop is on the lower floor with rosaries, cards. Books and more Accessible venue with heavy door.

I cannot speak on the masses at this parish because I have only come here for confession. St. Peter's is a hidden gem in the heart of the city, designed in a beautiful art deco architectural style, where the sacred meets the unique 20th century. You can enter in and take a moment away from the bustling city to immerse yourself in the heart of our Lord. As a student, the sacraments are not always easy to come by with my busy schedule. St. Peter's almost daily confession schedule makes my life much easier.

Went for Daily Mass on memorial day. A nice church with beautiful design. Simple no nonsense Mass. Music was "Gather Hymnal" style. Not my favorite but for those familiar with typical suburban parish music you will feel right at home.
