Burchfield Penney Art Center

So nice to visit a world-class museum focused on local artists! This is not a huge museum in terms of space, but the exhibits had so much depth it was easy to spend several hours there. I could have spent hours just looking at the Valeria Cray: Surface Tension exhibit; it was extremely well curated, and I loved how they lit several of the sculptures so the shadows became part of the work. A VAST, tiny WORLD, Charles Burchfield's art focused on insects and spiders was also a standout, as were the furniture pieces by Rohlfs & Roycroft. It was also lovely to see works on display by Buffalo State students. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and I'll definitely visit again soon.

Why not: take a friend and muse at the museum? My daughter guided me here when I came from Cleveland to visit. Love the large space. Contemporary exhibition. For a membership fee you get entrance and 10% off at the gift store. I got gifts for my grandchildren, and myself.... When you stop by, tell them Joe sent you...they will say Joe Who...that's 😀me

What a treat it was to go the museum today with my family. The Burchfield has great variety in their exhibits, which are thoughtfully curated and hung. The gift shop was a fun experience too. It was an excellent experience for the older, middle-aged, and teenaged people in my party. I highly recommend it and never leave reviews, which just goes to show how impressed I have been.

Diverse offerings on view, including contemporary art surveys, traditional crafts and works in mixed disciplines and materials. Don't miss the immersive-data-generative-media-robotics installation by Stephanie Rothenberg and Suzanne Thotpe: Serenades for Settling, which was developed in studio residency at FEED.

Beautiful building. Beautiful people! My cousin had her artwork displayed and the entire showcase from front door to the back of the building amazing. Staff was friendly food was amazing as well. If you are in town check out my cousin Valeria Cray's showcase til September 2026

One of my favorite galleries in western New York!! Local art is highlighted and the galleries is open free to the public every second Friday of the month!! They also throw great parties here if you’re able to catch them. Love it here !!

What better thing to do on a rainy day in Buffalo than visit a museum. Well, the Burchfield Penney Art Center did not disappoint. We especially enjoyed seeing the variety of art in the spacious galleries. The furniture on display was most interesting.

I am surprised to see this art center. How beautiful is it? Also their staff are so cool and friendly. Art exhibition is very nice.
