We went as a package for a big car show event & This is the host hotel . The staff were very attentive and friendly. We were told they only had executive suites available and I paid up and I was expecting a nicer than normal room but that was not the case. It was a very average room with a non working safe that they simply told us was a reoccurring problem and not to use it. This deal did include a special executive room with evening appetizers and private breakfast area. Overall a nice hotel I don’t feel it was worth the up charge.

Visitor notes
My husband found this place and we have been wanting to come for awhile! We are both glad we did. Great price to get into the park, and awesome views! Great trip. The park seems to be maintained well. Neat little visitors center. The trails we went on were nice, wide and clear of debris. Easy to get to the main views. We didn’t get to see any Elk sadly, but they do offer tours and we’d consider doing that next time! We will be back.
The hike down to the Clinchfield Overlook at the Breaks Interstate Park was absolutely worth it. We timed our visit for sunset, and the views were breathtaking. The trail is well-maintained with boardwalks and easy-to-follow paths, making the walk enjoyable while still feeling like an adventure. One of my favorite parts was learning the history behind how “The Breaks” got its name. The educational signs along the trail explain how the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River carved this incredible gorge through Pine Mountain, creating what is often called the “Grand Canyon of the South.” The combination of natural beauty, mountain history, and stunning sunset views made this one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re visiting Breaks Interstate Park, don’t miss the walk to the overlook—you’ll be rewarded with unforgettable scenery and a deeper appreciation for this unique Appalachian treasure.
I stayed in Cabin 2 for three nights recently. It was my first visit to Breaks. The cabin was beautiful and clean. The view off the back deck was wonderful. Turtles would sun themselves on a log below every morning. There was everything you might need in the kitchen, although if you are a coffee lover I would recommend bringing a large mug. The ones they provide are very small. My only problem with the cabin is that the beds (I tried both) were very very hard. I could not sleep in them at all. I wound up sleeping in a recliner. Because of this I unfortunately would not stay in the cabin again. After a day of hiking a nice bed is pretty important. The staff was wonderful and very helpful. I will come back for a day visit to hike. The trails and overlooks are amazing.
What a beautiful day and this place is worth the $3 admission. We were on our way back from North Carolina and decided to check it out. I see why they say it is the gorge of Kentucky Virginia. It's absolutely gorgeous the overlooks for nothing hard to get to there's a few steps on a couple of them but the state line we just walk straight out on it basically. It's such a beautiful view.
GORGEOUS park with amazing primitive camp sites! Beautiful trails and overlooks as well. Some overlooks are definitely ADA compliant, which is awesome! Registration staff and rangers were all very welcoming and helpful. Very clean and updated bath house as well.
An incredible park whether you are looking down at the river or looking up at the beautiful rock formations. Many short hikes to beautiful outlooks. Would highly recommend to visit.
1st time visiting the Breaks Park over Christmas. Our family rented a cabin that backs up to the lake. Very nice and calming. The unit we rented had 2 bedrooms plus a huge loft bedroom. There was only a queen bed but has room for multiple beds or bunks to accommodate more people. The outside deck had 2 sections. I open and the other screened. Very nice. The unit also has a gas fireplace that gives great ambiance. Kitchen had most everything you need for cooking. Charcoal grill was up the hill at the shelter. A few things that could be improved on: Internet. As they do have hot spots, we could only get internet and phone service on the front porch. TV’s could use updating as they are older and very small ( 27”) Overall, we gave our trip a 4 out of 5 and will most likely return.
