The most beautiful zoo! We went late morning and the animals were out enjoying the sun and some were even having their breakfast. The landscaping is lush and vibrant. The train ride is very relaxing and I highly recommend it. Yea, an overall wonderful experience and if you’re in the Mountain Brook area, you should visit. Lots of fun activities for the kids including a splash pad area.

I came here and got 50% off admission for being an AZA reciprocal member! The staff and volunteers were amazing! We came during the Dino Safari and Key gave us the carnivores tour which was so fun and informative. We got so many steps in! The animals were either out and active or napping, but many of them were visible. The habitats were really nice and spacious! We paid a bit extra to feed the giraffes and it was a cool experience.

I love this zoo! I have visited many times, and every visit has been a great experience. The staff is amazing, friendly, and clearly cares a lot about the animals. They are also very knowledgeable and always willing to answer questions. There are plenty of beautiful animals and attractions for both adults and children. You can also feed the lorikeets during your visit; food cups are available for $5 each. The zoo also has a few food kiosks and vending machines. One thing to keep in mind is that there are no water fountains available if you bring your own water bottle, and food and drink prices are a bit higher than average. Overall, it’s a wonderful zoo and definitely worth visiting!

The zoo was good. A few of the animals were not there due to maintenance of the habitats and the gift shop prices are quite high, but our experience was a pleasant one, for the most part. Some of the signs within the zoo for directions were misleading. But when weather didn't permit for the VR experience or the train, the membership didn't hesitate to issue a refund. It was easy for us to get our eligible discounts and most of the staff was friendly. It was overall not an exceptional experience but the animals that were there were active and nice to observe. The lion came very close to the glass and seemed to be posing for us to have a lot of pics with him!

My son loves the zoo! It’s a great family place with a few activities like a splash pad and adventure tower. The only down side is how expensive the food and snacks are but we just bring our own lunch. It’s definitely worth a membership!

I took my 15.5 year old son to the zoo while we were in town for a baseball tournament. Since the area and botanical gardens were so beautiful, I expected the zoo to be as well. There were more zoo exhibits closed than there were open. The enclosures were empty, had trash or were not habitable for the animals. The glass windows were dirty. The landscaping was unkept. The giraffes were standing in what appeared to be a parking lot. There were more animated dinosaurs than there were animals in the zoo. It was incredibly disappointing. The child area was lovely with a large splash pad. The carousel had no horses on it, only empty poles. There were barely any employees. All of the concessions carts were bare. They advertised hot pretzels and no hot food was available. There were only 1 of most of the animals there. Very sad. I hope they get the funding they need to protect those animals.

I had the most wonderful time. I did not know how big it was and wasn’t sure if I would complete it. But I did. I even missed a section and waddled my way back to get through it. There were a couple issues, but nothing that took away from my experience. Make sure someone at the ticket booth knows what they are suppose to be doing. There were several exhibits that didn’t have animals. I am sure they were being taken care of. As far prices, my small bag of expensive popcorn was too salty to eat and I had to ask for a fresh order of fries.

The Birmingham zoo was a grest way to spend our Saturday. The elephants were a pleasant and magical experience. The rhino did not come out. There was not many animals like zebras or anything.. But, there is still lots to do.
