Always a wonderful experience. We are lucky to have the Birmingham Museum of Art so close to home. It has beautiful permanent works of art as well as some wonderful exhibitions that rotate out a few times a year. They have a parking lot behind the museum and a very economical parking garage less than a block away. It is free to get in but some exhibits require paid tickets in certain areas. They have a fun area for children to make their own art as well.

Lovely art museum! I especially loved the paintings. There is a decent section of Christian paintings that I was definitely drawn to. I appreciated that the museum was free. The gift shop is very nice and has a large assortment of fun items. I think just about everyone could walk out with something to support the art museum!
Extraordinary the experience was great the art was delightful. It takes time to see everything being as they have 3 floors and many rooms. I'm from Philly and we have a very big Art museum there you know the steps Rocky went up! But it is just as varied and interesting. I recommend stopping by for a look Surprize yourself!!
This museum is FREE but they do have a donation box at near the entrance. I was impressed with the size and collection; European, African, Native American and Asian. They also had the Monet to Matisse collection; 1850-1950. This is not free and ranges from $10-19.75. Veterans and students pay $15. What surprised me was that the museum etiquette of the patrons was HORRIBLE. I saw one woman touching a portrait and another hand almost touching a Monet and they were Caucasians. I’ve been to the MET, Getty, etc and I’ve never seen such behavior by adults. But only in the south!! Smh Otherwise, the collection is wonderful; Monet, Cezanne, Renoir, Degas et al. It’s strange how we had artist of African decent but their art is never as expensive nor treasured. You would think during black history month there would be a gallery depicting black artist. They have African clay jugs, the largest collection. The video in area shows women from different countries making them. I enjoyed the video. I highly recommend visiting this museum!!
The collection is huge and offers so much to explore. The furniture woodwork is beautiful and really enhances the overall experience. Everything is thoughtfully and expertly displayed. The galleries featuring art from China and Japan are impressive. The Wedgwood collection is massive and is my favorite part of the visit! It also wasn’t crowded on a weekend. Highly recommend!
Free parking and free entry. The museum staff is very friendly and its very cool to check out all of the exhibits. Good variety of things to see. Definitely can spend a good 2-3 hours here. Park behind the building for free parking!
We took our 19 year old daughter here for her birthday, and had a WONDERFUL time! The museum was gorgeous! The associates who work there are friendly and professional, and we LOVED the gift shop! We will definitely be going back as often as possible. Thoroughly enjoyed the experience!
Beautiful, varied, and FREE, museum with small sculpture garden. It was incredible and the welcome desk was super friendly! The only reason this isn’t a 5-star review is that there were many sections that were in the middle of a transition and those works were absent.
