The Lord Napier Star

Nice place with plenty of energy and a lovely rooftop. The burger was full of... harmony. Well composed and balanced. Good beef, delicate taste of pickles, smooth sauce. Portion was just enough. If you are very hungry add fries. For me it was exactly what I needed to enjoy it without being overwhelmed by any aspect. The soundtrack fits the space perfectly!

A big corner pub with a good selection of beers, excellent hot dogs & burgers, lots of seating inside & out (including a secluded yard), and fantasticly friendly and welcoming staff. Look out for all the art too - lots of pieces from notable street artists are scattered around the pub. Just a great pub!

Had a nice Sunday roast here - went for the pork belly. It was nice but a little bit too fatty. The roast potatoes were amazing - some of the best I've had!

I booked the blue bar for my wedding party and I cannot express how thankful I am for every single staff member at The Lord Napier Star. Chris & Elea were so lovely every step of the planning, setting up the space perfectly for the night. Aaron & Leo were amazing bartenders. They were friendly, lively, accommodating, fast, and truly felt like part of the evening which enhanced the joy in the room. Big thank you to every staff member. Thank you for being so very accommodating to every single guest of mine. Thank you for helping the baker setting up the cake. Thank you for helping the DJ with the equipment. Truly an amazing team, amazing drinks, and a must book for any event (or just a visit for a pint for any reason really)

Poor establishment with zero accountability for cleaning up their outdoor area. Every weekend morning, the street outside the pub is left in a state, with neither management nor employees taking responsibility. Drinks are spilled, glasses are smashed — very low standards.

dropped by here on a sunday afternoon for a quick drink, but what a lovely place! can totally imagine it in the summertime with the rooftop terrace. girls on the bar were lovely & manager gave great recommendations for restaurants. boyfriend said toilet paper was thin 🤷‍♀️🙄

Love the pub. Love the staff, location, decor, food rotates well, all that jazz. The draught pint selection just doesn’t align with the rest of the quality. I love a pale ale, but the rotating craft beer tab at the front holds this place back and it regular pint selection is just sub par. I saw the star pubs recently released their own five points lager collab…if the collab exists introduce their beer full time to this pub please. Pale ale, XPA, lager, etc. It is the only thing that holds this place back.

Scam warning - table bookings Great pub to walk in. Don’t make a booking Had visited The Lord Napier Star many times before - good selection of beers, great space, and the food was decent. Staff in the pub very friendly. The bad - having last year booked what was presented as the roof garden for a party of 20, I was asked to pay a £50 fee, which would be reasonable for a private space or as a deposit, and so is what was expected. However, on arrival, when we were directed to the roof, there was no private space - only a standard table as if we’d just booked a table for free in any other pub, which had other people on it that we had to ask to move. The table was dirty and too small for the 20 of us. Multiple staff told me the £50 was a refundable deposit. Having tried to get this refund a few days later via email, I was told it was non refundable! So essentially, a £50 fee to book a table in a public area, that we could’ve politely asked for anyway! I.e. £50 for nothing at all. Utter greed, bordering on a scam, and the email exchange experience ruined for me what was a great pub in a great area.
