Bucket list! I know a bit about Mr Gorey but guide Stephanie filled in quite a bit more about this wonderful artist. I am very familiar with his work. Illustrated many children book covers. Lots of fun.

What a wonderful celebration of Edward Gorey. Formerly his residence now a museum dedicated to reminding art lovers of what Gorey was to the art world and preserve his robust legacy. Not to be missed if visiting the area

We drove all the way from Maine, just to see Edward Gorey House- and it was 100% worth it! The house itself is filled with Edward Gorey's personal possessions and artwork. Every inch of it has something intriguing, creepy, or amusing to look at; I walked through some of the rooms more than once, each time noticing cool details I'd missed on the first pass. The two attendants were delightful. They simultaneously checked in arriving visitors, shared numerous interesting facts about Gorey's life, graciously answered the many questions that visitors had, cracked jokes like a comedy duo, rang up items in the gift shop, and somehow never once looked frazzled! I'm already looking forward to visiting again, and highly recommend this place to others.

This unique museum was hosting an Animal Rescue League event when we attended, and we were so happily surprised to learn that Edward Gorey had been a major supporter of that organization. The museum featured displays representing some of the subjects of his books, as did some of the t-shirts available for sale, which were clever and funny. The last thing I needed, but of course I now have a really cool one. The man had an amazingly original sense of humor!

It was a fun experience. I think the tour is a bit less of a guided tour and more of a brief rundown of who Edward Gorey is & some history on him. Then they let you explore to your hearts content & do a little scavenger hunt. I think if just a bit more work goes into how they handle reservations/ appointing someone to park people then it would be perfect! As someone not from the immediate area, it was confusing how the outside line up worked with/without reservation. Overall I had a good experience and it was really nice talking to the person who checked me in.

I can't believe I didn't know this place was in Cape Cod! I saw a flyer at a coffee shop and got so excited. It is a really great little museum, my husband (who had never heard of Edward Gorey) also really enjoyed it. Highly recommend stopping by to look around and check out the gift shop- they do a really good job with the gift shop. We didn't have reservations when we went, but I think it's a good idea to make them just to make sure you can get in since it's pretty small and get the times of the talks.

I was VERY disappointed. The house is quirky and lovely, but only the downstairs rooms are on view. It's OK the kitty lives upstairs. I have lived on Cape for forty years and met Mr. Gorey a few times. I would like to think that he would have been appalled by the naked money grab that his house is now. We arrived on time for our tour and were not met by the docent. In fact we were ignored by the docent while he screwed legs on tables and lined off the kitchen for the wines and such on offer for the $75 to $100 ticket holders due to appear at 5:30. Mr. docent admitted out loud he had ignored us while he educated the perfectly nice young lady who checked us in, and insisted on refusing access to the house to a couple from Vermont, who were half an hour late, having come from a funeral. Someone needs to learn courtesy and good business sense. I hope these young women in his employ know to never employ the precepts he was imparting to them. For craps sake, one of the rooms on display is the bathroom. Give it a miss until somebody less invested is there.

Really well done living memorial for my favorite illustrator. We loved the scavenger hunt and how the director/guide and other staff member incorporated Gorey’s renowned dark humor in their interactions with visitors. Can’t wait to return.
