I went to Great Escape Utah for a family outing and we did the Harry Potter room. It was such a unique and fun experience — challenging in the best way and an amazing bonding activity for our family. We were a little worried that we had chosen the hardest room, but it ended up being perfect for us. We will definitely be coming back! The staff was incredibly kind and helpful. I booked over the phone with the manager, and she was upbeat and patient, answering all of my many questions (mom brain!). This was our first escape room and the staff also did a great job explaining how clues and locks worked before we started. My family is crazy about Harry Potter, so this room was so great. We definitely needed a couple of clues along the way because it was our first time. Overall, it was a great experience. Thanks for a great family outing!

Visitor notes
I recently visited The Great Escape Room and unfortunately had one of the most disappointing customer service experiences I’ve encountered in a long time. From the moment we opened the front door, the atmosphere immediately felt unwelcoming. The employee working appeared visibly disappointed and disgusted to even be there. There was no greeting, no eye contact, and not even the slightest acknowledgment of our presence. Instead of feeling excited and welcomed into an experience that is supposed to be fun and interactive, we felt like we were an inconvenience simply for walking in. What makes this even more disappointing is that this outing was meant to be a memorable experience for our daughter’s 18th birthday and one final fun family activity before she leaves for boot camp in just two days. We wanted this to be a positive and exciting memory for her before such a major life milestone, which made the lack of hospitality and overall negative atmosphere even more upsetting. My group has visited several escape rooms over the years, and this was the first time we’ve ever left feeling this disappointed. Escape rooms are not just about whether you solve the puzzles — they are about the overall experience, energy, and customer interaction from beginning to end. A positive staff attitude and engaging environment make a huge difference, and sadly, this location completely missed the mark. The lack of basic hospitality set a negative tone for the entire evening and made it difficult to enjoy the experience. We came expecting an exciting and memorable activity, but instead left feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. It’s unfortunate because Gardner Village is such a fun location, and we were genuinely looking forward to our visit. However, based on our experience, I cannot recommend this escape room to others. Customer service matters, and when guests are treated with indifference from the moment they arrive, it significantly impacts the overall experience.
We did the outpost one. It had themed props in the room. There were just 1 and 1/2 rooms. There were puzzles using numbers and lights and images. I've never done an escape room so I was completely lost but my girls figured it out. Honestly, the smaller group the better, because not more than one or two people could do it at the same time unless you're worried about not being smart enough then you would maybe benefit from more people. My older daughter wouldn't let my younger daughter play because only one or two people can fit in the front of the puzzle at one time. So we would have benefited from splitting up and seeing who could get through their escape room quicker. I would say not more than four people can participate at all. So unfortunately the rest of us just watched Even though we paid the same price so we would have benefited from splitting up.
We did the Grinch room. It’s perfect for young children! We brought our 6 year old and she was able to help us solve the puzzles. Our 11 year old also had a lot of fun. I loved the storyline, and the room is cute! Then end has a fun little surprise. We didn’t need any hints. 20 minutes was plenty. We could have actually gone slower and let the kids solve more of the puzzles on their own.
Fantastic birthday experience for eight-year-olds! We did the Star Wars room and had a blast. Great staff and great experience.
We did the Area 52 room for my 15yr old’s birthday and we had a blast! We will definitely go back. So fun!
I originally had a disappointing first experience here and left a critical review. To their credit, management reached out right away and worked with us to make things right. On our return visit, the difference was clear. The game master was upbeat and welcoming, the puzzles worked as intended, and the overall energy was much more engaging. At the end, we were offered a proper walkthrough of the unsolved puzzles, but because we finished it we didn’t really need it but the offer was nice. Comparing the two visits, it was like night and day. The first time left us frustrated, but the second really showed the fun potential of their rooms. I appreciate that they took our concerns seriously and put in the effort to improve the experience. Because of that, I now feel comfortable recommending them. Like any escape room, things can happen, but I came away from my second visit impressed with how they handled it and how enjoyable the room was when everything clicked.
Soooo fun!!! Definitely would recommend everyone come here- they had great service, the escape room was great, and they had fun picture opportunities afterwards. We did the Wizard room, and we were able to make it out on time!
