We went on President’s Day and it was not that busy. You need to order tickets online. It is close to the Smithsonian stop on the Metro. The museum itself is arranged in chronological order. It was a little disruptive to be near large groups getting guided tours. The tour guide we were near was very loud and that certainly detracts from the experience. Overall a really incredible experience, take your time and appreciate the gravity of the exhibits. We spent nearly 2 hours and 45 minutes in the museum.
One of the most emotional experiences I've encountered. The museum was packed with people of all cultures. Many high school groups, Everyone was so so respectful, hushed whispers were spoken.
The atrocities that happened to children are unimmaginable. People treated less than animals. We need to remember these happen today and work to change those terrorists and regimes.
My favorite part was at the end. It was a room full of those who wish theirs lives to save families and so many children.
It is not an appropriat place to take children. Too many inappropriate photos.
This museum is an experience never to forget. It is very well designed and easy to navigate. I cannot recommend a visit here enough. Thr exhibits are very well thought out and include photos, actual artifacts from some of the camps and ghettos, video and auditory stories and so much more. The gift shop is full of books about the war, Judiasm, The Holocaust and so much more for everyone from young children to adult. Getting tickets is easy and free on the website, but there is a $1 processing fee. I spent approximately three hours exploring and saw nearly every exhibit. One of the employees mentioned that they will be refreshing their permanent exhibit, so for sure check their website and social media pages for more updated info.
It was such a solemn place to visit but everything was well-organized with introduction beside each piece of items displayed. Highly recommended checking out this museum and learning from the past.
Beautifully curated and displayed collection of artifacts and stories. I only wish this could be more widely shared. Most of the museum absorbed my attention in such a way that photography felt inappropriate (for me.) I highly recommend this museum.
It was certainly a experience that me and my daughter will never forget. The education we gained from the experience has told us the true meaning of non-hate.
Captures the memories of a horrific time in our world paying beautiful tribute to those who lost their lives and those who aided the Jewish people. Overall the architectural aspects where well thought out. There was large crowds that slowed the exhibits. The atmosphere was quiet and reflective. Imagery was raw and at times shocking provoking emotions.
You will need a ticket that we got at the help desk on the first floor. Then enter the elevator to the fourth floor with a slow meandering through the exhibits back down to the ground level.
Took at least 3 hours.
It had been on my bucket list for quite some time. Did not disappoint. Very moving displays and warnings of not letting this ever happen again. Veterans and Active Duty are allowed in despite whatever their time on tickets say.
