DeFranko's Submarines

I decided to try out this shop since I was in the area. I had the pastrami with extra onions and pickles. Not a traditional pastrami but still good none the less. Everything was super fresh and you could taste it. The meat was lean and thinly sliced. The onions were fresh and the pickles were crisp. Easy to taste the difference. I'm sure the other sandwiches are great and if I'm in town again I would definitely come back.

Been here so many times. Food is walkways good got a large cold cut today and I suggested a deep cleaning to their minisplit which looks filthy but was told off and to be honest if they don’t want to loose clients maybe keeping the place clean would help. The minisplit show signs of mold build up and if air is being pushed thru I can imagine their freezer and other appliances that have not been service properly will think twice next time I go. All these Germs and bacteria can easily make it to our meals.

Hands down the best sub west of the Mississippi. I got the pastrami. Soft seasame bun with toppings I am still drooling over. Their pickle game is strong.

Let me telll you the best freaking pastrami sub I’ve ever had and I hate sub sandwiches cause I can never find a good one. But de Franco has my heart it’s been 3 days and I want another so baddd. Plus the owner is the sweetest most amazing person ever!!! Can’t wait to go back and get more!

"DeFranko's in Van Nuys is a hidden gem! The sub was phenomenal, loaded with fresh tomato, pickle, and onion. The seasonings on the sub bread with sesame seeds took it to the next level. Outstanding service in a cozy, intimate setting. Don't miss out on this.

Buddy brought me here. So glad he did. We got the Turkey and Pastrami large. These sandwiches are tasty. Bread is soft and the seasoning and vegetables that go in the sandwich are delicious. Staff was nice and friendly. Definitely coming back.

DeFranko’s is an OG sandwich stop in the valley. They have been around for over 50 years. It’s a little hole in the wall stop with no indoor dining but they have a few tables and chairs outside with a very small parking lot. The service was just okay. They definitely get a lot of orders in person and over the phone. There was a line out the door. I recommend calling ahead because they do get busy! I got the Italian sub for my parents who were in town and a chicken salad for me. The chicken salad was just okay. After reading more reviews, I wish I had gone with the pastrami because that one seems most popular. My parents enjoyed their sandwich but wish it had more meet inside. I will definitely come back again by calling in and trying something new.
