The Arbor Gate

One of my favorite local plant and garden stores! I don’t get to come here very often since I moved 100 miles away. So when I do, it is such a treat. They have a wide variety of plants, both indoor and outdoor, trees, and fabulous garden decor. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. The prices for plants are about average. Their garden decor is a little expensive, but it is high-quality merchandise. This isn’t cheap mass produced junk made overseas. They have many beautiful handcrafted items. Everything from glass to ceramic to metal. Their kinetic wind spinners are fabulous! They also have a lot of amazing glass outdoor art. Definitely plan to spend at least an hour here. And make sure you wear your walking shoes!

Great first time experience at Arbor Gate! Lots to choose from, so I suggest committing to at least an hour for browsing. We ended up getting a few things, including a gorgeous colorful succulent. Don’t forget to check out the 3 buildings on the property for indoor plants, gardening supplies and gifts. We went on a day they were giving out free frozen Bellinis.(which was perfect to cool off from the humidity that day. )

Their store and grounds are very nice and the inventory is great. Their prices are higher than most and they charge a fee to pay with a credit card. Their employees are helpful when you are buying but when we’ve attempted to speak to them on the phone we frequently only got their voicemail and they did not return our calls. We have purchased many trees, countless vegetables and other plants from them. We finally got someone on the phone and shared that a plum tree we purchased last season does not look like it is budding out yet….and before we could continue the person cut us off and said WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO ABOUT IT! My wife was so shocked at the scolding and absence of empathy or guidance (we do not know if the tree is a lost cause yet) she hung up. We plan to try out other nurseries going forward.

Fantastic! Great selection, great prices, great people - what more do you need? I would note - it is very large, and the layout is a little confusing, but there are plenty of employees to point you in the right direction. After my exploratory hike to the greenhouse to see the citrus trees I was super happy with the selection and the quality of the stock. Great graft, very healthy. Carrying back the bucket to the checkout was a bit of a workout in the summer heat though. Happy to come back for a few more fruit trees, they were all wonderful looking. Highly recommended. I traveled about 30 min for it, and would do it again.

I love this place! They have such a great selection of heirloom vegetables and herbs. I’ve been to a few nurseries but these guys have the healthiest and best selection for my garden needs! And everyone who works here is always so kind and generous with their knowledge. I look forward to my time here.

I love Arbor Gate! Today I spent time with Beth. She shared her knowledge of delphenium, foxglove, and other plants that would grow in my area. We looked through lots of fabulous clay pots and decorative things. I will always go to Arbor Gate on Sundays because Beth was just so helpful and friendly. This is my favorite Nursery in Houston. Prices are always reasonable and the selection of plants are unmatched. It takes at least two passes to see the majority of the plants but even with that you’ll be missing a lot. They are continually bringing in new plants so every time I go I find new things. They carry a lot of your standard offerings but what makes the place great is all the unusual and niche plants for the plant nerds. Use the parking in the back, it’s much larger.

Wow! First time visit and I found EXACTLY what I needed. Everyone was extremely helpful, knew the correct location for the plants I was searching for and even helped me load my large palm tree. Price for my Windmill Palm was $200-$350 LESS than other nurseries that carried the same size. I am now a dedicated customer! Great customer service, excellent prices and incredible quality of plants. Thank you!!
