Took my son here for his 6th birthday and it was such a great idea. There's elephant , tiger, wolves and much more. I like that the zoo seems to be built around the natural environment. There's an aquarium and bird garden which was a nice experience. This place is a must visit for family trips.

What an adorable zoo! My husband and I spent about an hour and a half walking the property. It’s very well designed and laid out, so there was little to no bottlenecking throughout most of the zoo. The animals also looked very well cared for. My favorite part was the Asian Elephant preserve where we got to see the baby elephants. Fun fact: they are the only elephant twins in the Western Hemisphere! The gift shop is one of the best I’ve seen at a zoo. There was a great variety of items, and they even sold locally made products. I purchased a pair of locally made elephant earrings (so cute!) I definitely recommend going when they open. There was already a line forming by opening time, so we were very glad we arrived early. My only complaint was the USS Antiquities area because it was harder to get through due to bottlenecking. If you want to see everything, it can take a while since the tanks are smaller and harder to view when others are already gathered there, which is understandable. We didn’t eat there, but we noticed a stand near Trunk and Tusk that appeared to offer alcoholic beverages and snacks, although it wasn’t open when we visited. Parking was easy and free, and I loved that each lot was labeled with a different animal to make it easier to remember where you parked. Overall, we had a fabulous day celebrating our 11-year wedding anniversary here! We would definitely return next time we're in town and try out an animal encounter!

The staff are friendly. This is the zoo we choose to take our children to because of how well taken care of the animals look. Would recommend to anyone, young or old. The food at the café is really good too!

I had an afternoon to enjoy the gorgeous weather and hadn't been to the zoo in many years. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the animals, particularly the elephants and flamingoes. The elephants were eating and wandering around, and the twin babies (almost 4 years old!) were so fun to watch. I loved seeing the eagle owl and a few other birds that were outside, but I hated seeing them tethered. Probably because it was early spring and it's always ugly and brown in central and northern NY, but the zoo felt a bit gloomy. I hope it will feel better in the summer. I did have a nice afternoon regardless. The employees I came across were friendly, and the gift shop has lots of souvenir options.

Love supporting the zoo....not sure why the birds got to be on ball and chain. If you dont have an enclosure big enough outside, dont have these birds. I get it...maybe they are rehabbing...what do I know. But at least post a sign .... doesn't look good. Also - why close the penguin exhibit on the first nice day of the year when you had thousands of visitors? If its general cleaning - pick a better day. If they're sick - post a sign for why they're not out there. Kind of dumb (what do I know, tho?) You need a better cleaning schedule or contingency for good weather. Other than that you're a damn good county zoo and you do a lot and its appreciated. Be better.

This place is AMAZING!! It is completely wheelchair friendly!! They have so many indoor exhibits, as well as outdoor! We were lucky to see the new elephant mom, dad, and TWIN babies!! They have a special elephant preserve for all of them! We were able to see so many animals. The staff were all great! We got to see them giving all the turtles check ups, and they were so good with them! I LOVE SHOPPING, and they have a great gift shop!! They have gifts, and souvenirs for people of all ages! I got a Fahlo sloth tracking bracelet that I love!! I also got my nieces and nephew each a pet to adopt! They each came with a stuffed animal (I got a penquin, otter, and flamingo) an adoption certificate, and more! You won't be disappointed! We will be going again sometime this summer!
