Dismal Swamp Canal Welcome Center

Very nice place. Came in by boat. Lots of natural beauty and trails to walk. Clean and well kept. Great place to walk and walk dogs. Cool gift shop. Great staff.

Greeter was especially warm and informative at visitors center. Best laid out booklets and maps we have seen. Knowledgeable about area and Dismal Swamp.

We stopped here to overnight on our boat from Elizabeth city passing on the canal. The folks really made us feel welcome and appreciated. The area is super clean the docks are in great shape. Easy walk to the Dismal Swamp State Park Everyone was super helpful and had some great information and willing to share. If you are on a boat and can take the canal well worth the side trip, just a beautiful area very secure and safe. Worth the visit.

Welcome Center info office itself was closed--maybe because it was a Sunday?Restrooms nice, dog area also nice. Parking access easy for in and out. Really wish we could have obtained a few brochures. Did view canal--amazing! My sister, who came down the ICW as a liveaboard, reports that tugs used to use it years ago!

Clean restrooms and lots to see. Highly recommend renting a kayak here, lots of protected water to paddle. Lake Drummond is just a few miles from here too if you're feeling energetic! Wish I had more than me to explore the trails and centers here. Lots of interpretive signs and displays to learn about the history from. Will be back next time in the area.

The employees are so kind and welcoming. It was a pleasure just visiting with them. We were on the water so it was a different experience for us and absolutely beautiful

Really cute stop. Welcome center has a cute little museum. Rest stop is on hwy 17 between Elizabeth City and Chesapeke, VA. There is also a great visitor center and gift shop. You can visit it all in less than 30 minutes. Stop and see.

A great place to take a scenic relaxing rest. Also has hiking and boating options if you desire to spend more time there
