This library is huge, it almost looks like a museum when you walk inside. It’s very spacious with a modern design, but you still get a cozy, welcoming feeling upon entering. The perfect vibe for a library. They offer tons of free classes like sewing classes, 3D printing, etc. They have many different sections for you to choose your perfect reading spot. I have spent hours here reading, crocheting, taking my son to the big play room and doing the fun activities they offer for kids too like scavenger hunts and classes.
This library is an amazing facility! The staff are hospitable, helpful, and knowledgeable. The place has everything you could need, from books, comics, dvds, and video games, to study rooms, and studios for recording podcasts and music. I wish I could give it 10 stars!
We LOVE the Skokie Public Library! Have been going since we moved to Skokie in 2022, and it’s one of our favorite places. They offer so many things, are incredibly well organized, clean and open. Sometimes I like to work remotely if I have car work to get done nearby, or take my son to story time. Another bonus is using the card to go to nearby museums! We have certainly taken advantage and encourage everyone to get a library card!
Been awhile since last time I visited- phenomenal updates. The library has been drastically redesigned to support public accessibility. Absolutely beautiful, a masterwork in public access.
This place is good and organized. There’s a kid section, teen volunteering opportunities online and good books and events. This is better then Evanston library which is the opposite. However if you come through Laramie you need to wait for traffic on Oakton before you can cross which could be long.
One of the reasons we bought a house here. We explore libraries every place we go and this one (mind you, I have over a half-century of library-loving bookwormishness under my belt) may be the most welcoming, best appointed and most gorgeous (midcentury) version I’ve ever had the good fortune of living near.
Something about it makes me feel emotional. And beyond books, there’s art, tool and device rentals, quiet rooms, a farmers market next door on weekends, and a maker space where I was actually able to sit down and do some minor clothing repairs at their fancy sewing machines (I had foresight and brought the small pile with us once)
The photos I shared are before we were lucky enough to live in Skokie, actually. It was an impactful visit and I must say this library remains top of our happy list

★★★★★This is by far the best Library I have ever been to! Staffs were very friendly and helpful. It’s super clean and spacious. There are so many play areas for the kids to enjoy! I always thought the library closer to my area was the best , but I was so wrong ! Even though you don’t own a Skokie library card you can take part in certain activities.
Love Skokie Public Library!💕 Now that it's been renovated it's even more esthetically pleasing. The staff are welcoming and helpful. The teen section is awesome with study rooms, gaming area, and fun open spaces. The children's area has a new aquarium and open play areas. It has a fabulous collection of reads and DVDs. Once the library opens further in accordance to CDC guidelines it will be nice to see everyone enjoying the new courtyards. Love this place! 💕
