It is a fun place to visit, but beware the parking lot is a HIGH crime area! The park is lovely to walk through. If you are fortunate enough to catch boats going the locks, it is fascinating to watch the process. We were so surprised to watch 4 boats at a time utilize the locks. On the opposite side of the park, you can explore the fish ladder. At the right time of the year you can watch the fish navigate the ladder through the large windows. Beware when you park in the lot on the north side. BE SURE TO HIDE EVERYTHING IN THE TRUNK! DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN SIGHT! Unfortunately, we parked between two signs that warned about the high crime area. We accidently left a backpack in the backseat. After less than one hour at the park we returned to a shattered rear window and stolen backpack. It happens so often police won't respond and will have you file the report online.

Visiting the locks required a bit of a walk, but honestly it was totally worth it 😊 The surroundings are incredibly calm, scenic, and perfect if you enjoy peaceful nature. Watching the locks operate was fascinating — seeing them slowly open and close to let ships pass through felt almost like watching a giant mechanical show 🚢⚙️ It’s one of those simple experiences that ends up being surprisingly memorable. Another highlight was the salmon ladders 🐟 There’s a small viewing centre nearby where you can actually observe the salmon swimming upstream through the ladders, which was really impressive. On the day we visited, we even spotted a seal swimming around in the water, clearly hoping to catch an easy meal from the passing fish 🦭 Nature in action! Overall, it was a unique and enjoyable visit that I’d definitely recommend to anyone exploring the area. 🌿

Beautiful! Go see an intricate part of Seattle's commerce, industrial history, and recreational use of the Ballard locks. Fish ladder botanical gardens historic buildings visitor center with exhibits and a small gift shop. Wonderful way to spend your afternoon. I lucked out the day I went. Kirkland Civic Orchestra was performing popular l music in the gardens.

Its a beautiful park with a high variaties of plants and flowers where they taken great care of. You can also find the locks over here that are used for the transportation of boats to an upper or lower level. During the breeding season of the salmon you're able to seem them swim through the water.

シアトルにある運河の水門施設で、海と湖の高さを調整する仕組みが間近で見られるスポット。船が水位の違う場所を行き来する様子がかなり面白くて、つい長居してしまう場所です。さらに時期によってはサーモンの遡上が観察できて、自然と都市インフラが一緒に楽しめるのが魅力。観光地というより地元の人も普通に散歩やピクニックに来る感じで、のんびりした雰囲気も良い。派手さはないけど、仕組みを知ると一気に面白さが増すタイプのスポットで、シアトルらしさを感じたい人にはかなりおすすめ。

One of the architectural wonders. If you are interested in Civil/Architecture, you will definitely enjoy. There are rest rooms in the site. If you are lucky, you can witness the lock in working condition ( Water being pumped up and down)
