Georgia O'Keeffe Museum

I went in this museum liking Georgia O’Keefe’s work, but I left LOVING it. It was astonishing to see so many of her original works in person, and the displays allowed you to see her progression as an artist over time. They even had her juvenalia! There were other delightful surprises as well, like her doodles in a book of Faust. Additionally, I enjoyed that the museum also included a collection of native artists responding to or inspired by her. That exhibit was equally interesting. And then there was the gift shop…it had a lot of beautiful original art that was harkening to her, from jewelry to plushies. And it also included things that spoke to her interests, like her love of tea or her rock collection. They had books on her and reproductions of her images. Beautiful scarves and hats reminiscent of her as well. This place is a real gem, and it’s breathtaking to stand so close to one of America’s greatest artists right in the heart of a land she adored.

We were in Santa Fe on Thursday, May 7 2026 which was during the weekday and stopped by the visitor's center and asked about the museum. A nice gentleman informed us it was very close and said it would be opening soon and that we would be able to get tickets inside. We headed over and waited less than 10 minutes and the doors opened. The cost for tickets was very reasonable to see the beautiful artwork of Georgia O'Keefe. Seeing her art in person was amazing. It's a beautiful museum.

I enjoyed my time there. Got to see some interest things. Not sure what I was expecting but if you are not hiking then the visit is really not very long. The art gallery was nice to see.

I have loved Georgia O’Keeffe’s work for about 45 years, so this was a very exciting place for me. I loved learning more about her views of her work. I was surprised to see only a few of her most famous works on display but gathered that they are in larger galleries. The audio tour (included in the price of admission) was good but not wholly necessary. It is a pretty small museum with no parking; I found metered street parking a couple of blocks away.

As a casual art museum person who knew nothing about O'Keeffe before, her paintings were pretty good and a little mesmerizing, perfect for imagining what a great abstract wallpaper background would be. The main con is the size of the museum and the price you pay. In my opinion, if it were bigger with more pieces or a more affordable price, it would have been perfect.

The gallery was really well lit and nice. The plaqueswere well-written easy to understand in Spanish and English. The exhibition itself seemed a little light. There could have been more. The rotational exhibit was an interesting response to O'Keefe's work made by native artists. Actually enjoyed that more than the exhibit on O'Keefe. The parking is a major issue so plan for that.

The museum is very good with plenty of useful historical information. The museum is pretty small actually. I very much enjoyed the other installation of the local Native artists.

Really nice museum. The artwork by O'Keefe is great, and they have sentive works in dim rooms to reduce light damage. The atmosphere is nice and quiet. Only once heard a crying baby. That's to be expected. The staff is friendly and helpful. Took one star off because there's no parking nearby. But the staff pointed me to the closest parking garage and the shortest route to walk to and from the museum. It requires tickets and is not overly crowded, although there were some crowded areas a couple of times as folks navigated through while others admired the art. There is an audio tour available if you bring ear phones. I did not ha e mine so I can't speak to it. A couple of the galleries had works by other artists related to O'Keefe and New Mexico. Overall a nice experience.
