USS Pampanito Museum and Memorial

What an amazing experience! An audio tour will guide you through history aboard the submarine. It's truly incredible to see the work and living conditions the sailors were in. From the torpedo room to the war room the stories and history will have you captivated. I highly recommend viewing the submarine on your trip.

2026-0517下午-想不到兒子和先生一樣，都算是軍事迷。上午參觀完惡魔島之後，他帶我們走到45號碼頭，參觀二戰時期的美國帕姆托尼號潛艇。 這麼小的空間，居然同時有80個人生活在一起達75天，由於日子是所有軍種中最苦，所以伙食最好，現做麵包甚至有冰淇淋可以吃。 一般人門票25美，兒子有學生證，因此門票20美。

Very informative museum of an actual submarine. The audio tour was informative. Came on a Saturday afternoon and not too crowded. The space inside is cramped as expected and need patience if lots of people. Fascinating insights of how it must have felt like during a war and living in such confined space.

Came on a slow day. Took lots of pictures I need to get developed still. Had a long and wide ranging conversation with the docent feilding questions in the navagations room (Dwight?) and we could have kept talking for an hour. I asked for an ipod nano and headphones for the audio tour because I didn't have headphones for my phone with me. Glad they have them. Unfortunately I got a lemon and the tour was all out of order. I didn't mind jumping around, but they Apologized and set it aside after. There wasn't a good opportunity to catch that before I went below. Not for the claustrophobic. Also, I didn't get seasick, but I can imagine someone with a weaker fortitude being very unsettled by the gentle side-to-side listing from the wake of the ferries. Did not feel creepy in the way big empty museum ships often do. I'm not a supremely superstitious person, but I have been in extremely haunted museum pieces before that weren't shy about being impatient with me being there. Pleased to say, no such vibes, just a cool boat. I got back to the Hostel and watched It Came From Beneath the Sea.

Visiting this World War II submarine will be interesting for all military history enthusiasts. You can buy a ticket right at the entrance. There is no guide on board, but you can use a link to open an audio guide on your phone. This also means you’re not limited in time and can explore each compartment as long as you like. Overall, the visit is unlikely to take more than an hour. You will enter at the stern and pass through all the compartments of the submarine, then exit at the bow, where you’ll have the opportunity to explore the superstructure and the guns.

Very impressive to look at. We really enjoyed the small exhibit inside as well. The lady volunteering there was very friendly and knowledgeable; we enjoyed talking with her. The exhibit is not too big / not too long to visit, so it was a nice break from all the tourists outside (we were alone in there). The exhibit is in a wide room, with plenty of space to walk around, isolated from the noise outside, with big windows to let the sun shines in. Honestly, it was a great improvised stop! If you are interested by the topic, call in advance to ask when the veteran is present to add-in with great explanations of his personal experience in a submarine.

Located at right next to the fisherman’s wharf, this you get a self-guided tour with this place. However, there is not too much to be explored in this ship. One pass through the hull, you’re done with this place. It’s no secret that submarine museums are often small, but other submarine museums often prepare something else for their visitors, which I’d love to see from Pampanito alike.
