What a fun experience! It was so hot by the time we got to Africa, most animals were inside cooling off, but we still saw so many more animals up close. Umbrellas are allowed, which was a lifesaver! And they provided a wheelchair all the way to the car (they also offered an electric scooter, but I was ready to go) when I suffered a medical event and couldn't walk. Best part was the cost. Each ticket was on special -- $25 got us admission, a drink, hotdog, and bag of chips. Not bad for each person. Dino Event was AWESOME! Many different kinds of animatronics were integrated throughout the flora displays that we could get up close and personal with. There's even a playground in a shady spot near the front. Will definitely think about coming again before it's gone.

This was a very good experience for us. Better than Sea World for the cost. Our kids are at the age where they’re too old for the kiddie path and too young for adult rides. The zoo merit them engaged all day. Plenty of shade, lots of places to cool down, variety of exhibits, active animals, and kind helpful staff. We considered the visit a victory.
We lived in Houston for years so their zoo was the one we always visited. This was the first time at San Antonio Zoo & I loved everything about it with two young kids. It was clean, they layout was nice and close together and I loved the beautiful style And landscaping throughout. It was a pretty hot day and the zoo took note and had many of the green pod sprayers (pictured) so people could cool off without getting drenched. I really appreciated that. Well done SA Zoo!!
Review update: The people at the gate are far from personal. Rather rude infact. My membership expired somehow and was 14$ overdue. The gate people wouldn't let me in to go to the larger nicer side of guest services i was kept outside the gate like someone who hasn't been a pass holder for a few months. Guest relations isn't any better. The space is tiny. Then they wouldn't let me pay my balance there had to call my fiance and have him call and do it. In final conclusion, the zoo is nice, staff...could use some customer service training. Original review: Went for my birthday for my fiance, his grandma, and a friend. We haven't been in 3 years so it was incredible to see the new habitats. The Gorrila exhibit was amazing! I hope the other enclosures could be this intricate some day. The food was rather expensive but the portions were good size. We got the souvenir cup and it definitely saved us a lot of money on drinks. Only wish is there was more choices for pop. Also the water tasted like it came from the enclosures from some of the kiosks so heads up 😅 We got the year pass so can't wait to come back 🖤
Visited the San Antonio Zoo and had a very enjoyable experience. The zoo has a great variety of animals, from lions and jaguars to giraffes and gorillas, which made the visit fun and interesting. Everything looked clean and well organized, and the animals seemed well cared for. Walking through the different areas was pleasant and relaxing. A nice place to spend a few hours with family or friends in San Antonio.
Definitely a go to place when visiting! Been going for years! It’s really nice and easy to navigate, great views of all the animals and the new gorilla enclosure is honestly top tier! They have two sides to explore and an inside “nesting” area!! Very unique! My favorite exhibit though is the clouded leopard and fisher cat area! Very unique and clean zoo!
I can’t recommend the San Antonio Zoo. We drove 4 & 1/2 hours and I am very disappointment. We paid $118 for 4 of us and it definitely wasn’t worth the money or time. First, it was a long walk from the garage to the entrance. My mom has knee problems and it was too much for her. If you have any elderly friends or relatives, anyone with disabilities, drop them off first at the front and then find parking. Most of the animals weren’t out at all, and there were so many areas that were closed or under maintenance. Didn’t see any monkeys, bears, or elephants. You have to pay to see the Kangaroos. Everything should be included in the admission price. I love taking pictures but I was able to take a few pictures of the structures and animals that were out. I see a lot of 5 star reviews but not sure why but it might be the ones that have children because it definitely is great for them but not adults only, I guess we came to visit on the wrong day but right now, I don’t think there will be a 2nd time to find out. They should close down until everything is up and running so you can get your money worth. I’m gonna do a 3 rating because I was still able to capture some pictures from my outing.
I visited during Zoo Lights and it was absolutely stunning. The light displays are world-class and really transform the park after dark. Even with the holiday crowds, the flow was good. We managed to see the hippos (Timothy is a legend!) and the new gorilla exhibit before the sun went down. It’s a bit pricey, but the atmosphere and the conservation work they do make it worth every penny. Highly recommend for a festive night out!
